[Singer MJ's] reverb-drenched vocals keep his lyrics veiled, but the reckless energy of two-chord Spaceman-3 like rock-outs such as Preservation and Away/Towards suggests a most electrifying catharsis is in process. [Apr 2013, p.89]

While such single-mindedness doesn't leave much room for light and shade, at its best Pearl Mystic is testament to the power of head-nodding repetition and well-stomped FX pedals. [Apr 2013, p.104]

Excellent album. Cosmic, mellow, patient and yet persistent in its attack and precision. Vocals are a collage of reminiscent flares of BlackExcellent album. Cosmic, mellow, patient and yet persistent in its attack and precision. Vocals are a collage of reminiscent flares of Black Angels and pre-BRMC Brian Jonestown Massacre. A beautiful landscape of raw melody that pounds its way into your ears and through the blood stream.
