The heaviest and catchiest thing the Washingtonians have unleashed--and the most moving, too. [23 Jul 2016, p.52]

Though some may find the metal might tiresome over Periphery III's hour-plus runtime, the drive to keep exploring outside of their stylistic box continues to be crucial to their success.

Not everything's entirely stale, though. On the whole, the djent factor of the album is lower than most others (spare, perhaps, Juggernaut: Alpha) and the inclusion of orchestral elements throughout makes things feel a little more open, inviting, and intriguing.

A poppier polish, especially vocally, coats this album as they move into catchier, crowd-pleasing metalcore territory with mixed results.

III is acceptable only to the loyal fans, as it ultimately does little right and sees Periphery at an all-time creative low, failing to improve on any of their faults. For all the instrumental complexity and quirky songwriting choices, it will just sound forced to most.

Periphery draw in new and old styles to create something that pushes their style forward. The technical skills of mark, jake, misha, adam and matt are incredible and Spencers vocals are insane, proving once again that they go up like an angel and down like a wounded Ox. If you're a true Periphery fan this will delight. Expand

The album may seem long at first, but every song is unique and I wouldn't drop anything. Production is awesome, and Spencer's vocals are insane. What lacks is that the melodies are not as catchy as on previous records. You won't find another Scarlett. But as a Periphery fan I dig it, it overpasses Juggernaut easily. Expand

Not the perfect but I'm sure that this is a great album. Great mixing and the experimental score involvement was impressive. Especially theNot the perfect but I'm sure that this is a great album. Great mixing and the experimental score involvement was impressive. Especially the vocalist, Spencer Sotelo's singing technique is getting more and more elaborated than previous ones (like Alpha-Omega or Periphery II). The bass was magnificent. Adam Getgood's threatening overdriven bass sound was massive and forceful. Also the perfect drum sound was a pleasure to ears. Three guitars were well balanced and used very wisely. But the track listing was a bit of mess, though. Lining up the quiet track, Lune was clever but listing two ear-make-bleed, The price is wrong, Motormouth, couldn't able to tell me the concept of the album. Expand

Adheres to the pop/catchy flavor we got in alpha/omega, minus the concept album writing style. In my opinion, not as strong as Periphery 2, but will be a good entry point for new listeners due to the inviting nature of the vocals. A lot less harsh screams and what not. Orchestral portions spread throughout will delight Dream Theater fans :P Expand

I'm really not sure what to think of Periphery going forward. P2 is a favorite but each album since has somewhat disappointed. I see little progression and whilst this album has a couple of stellar highlights, it all seems like they're rehashing stuff that they've done before. Expand
