Summary:The fifth full-length release for the country singer features guest appearances from Little Big Town, the Time Jumpers (a Grammy-nominated western swing ensemble that includes Vince Gill), and Carrie Underwood.
Perhaps Platinum would've benefitted from a tighter construction, but its mess and lopsided sequencing wind up appealing: at its heart, this is a classic double-album where the misses enhance the home runs and, eventually, are endearing on their own terms.
Mostly it shows how Lambert earned her throne: by singing top-shelf songs in the voice of a woman getting real. Listening to her records is like eavesdropping in a hair salon.
Platinum is a worthy follow-up; Lambert wrote or co-wrote half of the album’s 16 tracks, which bounce from humid honky tonk to glossy arena stage to rustic front porch with sass and ease.
Her characters in these songs--which feature some of the most incisive songwriting in any genre--are complex, self-confident and self-lacerating all at once, and most crucially, completely knowing and in on the joke.

And the best song on that album to me is Automatic because it talks about how much this world depends on electronic's these days and how people aren't very polite anymore.…Expand

From Miranda's flawless vocal performance to the crunchy county-ish tunes, this album never fails to entertain.
1. Girls: Great song about feminine-empowerment with a great soulful performance from Miranda, kicks the album just about the right way (9/10)
2. Platinum: What's better than listening to the face of country music flaunting its blonde hair and its platinum success? Fun enjoyable song (8/10).
3. Little Red Wagon: the first track on the album where Lambert truly and astonishingly shines, with her sassy beautiful vocals, anything could be worked up to make a hit! (10/10).
4. Smokin' and Drinkin': A throwback song that anyone can relate to with a catchy chorus. Enjoyable with beautiful background vocals by Little Big Town (8/10).
5. Piscilla: Lyrically-genius song with a catchy hook, but nothing special about it. Still, it's enjoyable, but forgettable (6/10).
6. Automatic: No need to talk about this really great song about the old manual times, great tune and very beautiful, well-executed lyrics (9/10).
7. Bathroom Sink: Written by Lambert alone, another female empowerment anthem, with some great guitar riffs (7/10).
8. Old **** This is where the album TRULY begins to shine. Great cut that takes us back to the country music roots. It's honestly hard to do a song like that in a time when stupid mainstream country music is ruling (10/10).
9. All That's Left: A song straight to country clubs dancefloors, revived by Lambert's fun performance and The Time Jumpers' beautiful backing vocals (10/10).
10. Gravity is a **** Speechless. Gotta love this one. Enough said. If I could give this track an 11, I would (10/10).
11. Babies Makin' Babies: From the title, we all can expect what the song is about, but as usual, the lyrics and Lambert's flawless talent make this song unpredictably BEAUTIFUL (9/10).
12. Somethin' Bad: Weakest track on the album. Seriously, it's good, but you would expect more from the pairing of the two country 'Godesses' (If that's a word) (5/10).
13. Holding on to You: Extremely sweet country ballad that'll take your mind off things while the listen. One of the standouts (9/10).
14. Two Rings Shy: This is not the first place on this record that Lambert shows off her crazy side. Good song with a great vibe. (8/10)
15. Hard Staying Sober: One of the 8 tracks co-written by Lambert. Beautifully-executed with, again, some amazing guitar riffs (8/10).
16. Another Sunday in the South: I can smell future-summer hit. Beautiful throwback song and a perfect closer to the album (9/10).
So that gives us about 8.4/10 but I'm gonna give it a 9 cause an 8 is a shame to such a beautiful record. It was sure as hell worth the wait, folks! GO GET IT!…Expand
