Pray for Haiti is his most ambitious, definitive project since his 2016 masterpiece Haitian Body Odor, a collage rendered in full.

Pray For Haiti is an easy starting point for new Griselda fans looking to find out what the Mach-Hommy hype is all about.

Hommy albums get better with repeated listens and he’s an artist that suits the album format. The antithesis of a regular coke rap rapper, his music carries a richer quality than Griselda regulars. Whether you can truly appreciate his craft depends on your patience and willingness to hear something a little different.

It's an exciting album that comes on with such subtlety it's easy to miss how immaculately constructed it is the first several times through.

It’s an impressive whole, even if a few of the individual parts don’t hold up to scrutiny. [Jul 2021, p.70]

On Pray for Haiti, he has successfully stayed true to his roots while offering unique yet less obtuse content.

Haiti lacks a clear narrative. Still, this hardly harms the project. It simply constrains it to being particularly strong rather than transcendent.

Mach-Hommy delivers a ton of punchlines in every song, and kept me captivated even though his flow and delivery can be described as monotonous. It is indeed his most mature and ambitious project as its length is greater than all his other projects, and he dispensed with some of the cornier hooks than he had used in a lot of previous project, and the production on this album is the best since his 2017 album The G.A.T.. There are a few flaws in this album, however, which is the fake-sounding hook of Murder CZN and the weak closing song Sin Eater/Ten Boxes. Overall, it is definitely one of the best projects of the year, and I look forward to more Westside Gunn- exec. produced projects by Mach. Full Review »
