    An amazing album. Revival is still my favorite body of work from her, but this album really showed off her experimental side. The lyrical content and honesty along with the diverse production makes it a truly iconic album.

    Good album. This album has dedication, creativity and love. Awesome album about moving on after a heartbreak, lose you to love me is a great song. It's awesome and Selena really worked hard on this album. Yes, it is mainstream but her voice and meaning of the songs dont make it that bad, would love if this album had more different songs since 80% of it is about heartbreak but still great.

    Rare is an album that defiantly looks forward and is rooted in positivity. Not one to wallow, Gomez would prefer to dance away her heartache. The result is a collection that offers a perfectly balanced mix of exuberant bangers, like the sashaying carefree ebullience of Dance Again, mixed with down tempo slow jams like Kinda Crazy that offer numerous subtle and compelling melodic twists and turns.

    Over the course of 13 songs (all of which she obviously co-wrote), Gomez sounds like she is finally in control of her creative process and her craft. Saying this doesn't go in the sense that every song on here is flawless, the album has its forgettable moments of course, but its strong moments truly take off and win. The choice of singles is excellent: 'Lose You to Love Me' may have been one of the best, if not the best, comeback of 2019, and 'Look At Her Now', an enjoyable song about self-worth, turns out to be very fitting in the context of the record.

    The other moments where she truly shines are the ones on which she does things she wouldn't usually do: 'Ring' is probably the sassiest, most attitude-filled song Gomez has ever put out, 'Crowded Room' finds her singing with a flawless falsetto, and she even goes a bit alternative on 'Cut You Off', with a non-chalant delivery and a gorgeous instrumental bridge. However, some other songs fall short, either feeling like fillers ('Fun'), or just being repetitive/nothing new as the album progresses ('Kinda Crazy', 'People You Know').

    "Rare" is a really good pop record, and it is definitely a step in the right direction for Gomez.    … Expand

    It's fascinating how Gomez developed her music over the years. Her previous album, Revival, was a turning point in her career, presenting a more mature image to the general public, but with Rare she reaches a whole new level with a cohesive yet diverse album.

    She had 5 years to create a beautiful masterpiece yet she came up with... this. She made rare as the opening and title track of the album yet nothing is really so special about it??? The production of the album sounds like a wannabe Bad Liar but horribly failed. Only one track stood off which is Cut You Off, others sound the same.

Desde Vulnerable, que es de lejos una de las mejores del álbum, de Selena, del pop, de lo que va del año y de los últimos tiempos, con un sonido un poco alegre pero con una letra que nos deja pensando en cómo se siente Selena y nos identifica, canciones como Let Me Get Me o Dance Again que nos hacen bailar con sonidos impresionantes o Cut You Off, Rare o Fun que por medio de sonidos y palabras susurradas nos dan una nueva forma de escuchar música y entretenerse.     this album is literally pop perfection. it might be up there with emotion by carly rae jepsen and melodrama by lorde. she didn't disappoint omg her mind it amazes me

    If on Revival Selena tried different directions with her music, on rare she chose one and went for it. It’s honest and explicitly vulnerable, something that seemed to scare Selena on her past works, now she recognizes it as her biggest strength. Great album.

    Rare is very expressive with songs that make you feel all kinds of feelings. Rhythms that make us dance but with reflecting lyrics. It’s all about self-love, self-confidence and empowering, a great way to follow revival’s path. Definitely a great pop album.

    A very fun and catchy album. Gomez explores many genres and exceeds the limits of anything she’s released before, while still keeping her authenticity. Excellent!

    While none of these 13 songs attempt the subtle weirdness of “Bad Liar” and the emotional thesis—self-love!—can be a bit one-note, Rare is the 27-year-old’s most cohesive record to date. ... But it’s difficult to come away from Rare with any real perspective on who Gomez is other than that she doesn’t want to be the person she was, whoever that similarly mysterious shadow was.
