This is Cube's strongest performance musically and lyrically in many many years, so he's not only forgiven for using such an absurd word, he's actually given me hope that it might eventually show up in the hip-hop dictionary.
-
The result is arguably his best work contextually since "Death Certificate" itself.
-
The bombastic intro and interludes with Keith David could go too, but otherwise this no-answers, gritty ego trip will satisfy his fans while pushing everyone else away even further.
-
Older and wiser doesn't mean played out, and his rhymes are wittier and more tightly coiled than most of his younger peers.
-
Raw Footage runs about four songs too long and contains one too many lines about how Cube needs to feed his family, which all sounds a little silly coming from a guy who could retire just on the DVD sales of Barbershop. But Raw Footage proves that even though he's middle-aged, he's still hungry.
-
Occasional clunkers aside, the impassioned delivery and stripped-down G-funk grooves are still more potent than plenty of efforts by rappers half Cube's age.
-
MojoIts highlights peaking above those of its predecessor even if the quality of the often plasticky beats means it's a little more uneven. [Nov 2008, p.108]
-
Q MagazineLicensed to offend, he's as pumped-up and provocative as ever. [Nov 2008, p.121]
-
UncutIt contains some amusing satires, some witty observations about the degeneration of rap and some why-oh-why philosophising. Some beats are a little dated. [Dec 2008, p.94]
-
The rap legend's second independently released solo album is a long way from "AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted," but the old man is still good for a larf.
-
Overall, the gangsta bravado and rabble-rousing sound uninspired and too familiar.

NoelB.Sep 15, 2008Good Stuff. Besides lyrics, musically refreshing. Nice of Cube to remind us what it is all about !
