Rebel Heart is the best of both Madonna worlds, the sexual persona and the true romantic at heart. A true return to form for Madonna. Long live the Queen of pop.

If this album hadn't been leaked, everybody would be loving, admiring and copying it. I think it's one of her bests - and the best since 2005 Confessions-. I don't understand why they're underrating it. Party songs and personal lyrics, auto-referential and of course, a reality of her 56-year-old persona.

It's definitively better than MDNA, but still it got too much auto-tune, especially on "Auto--Tune Baby" (the only song from this album that I don't like...).

Madonna is what, 56 years old? And she's still killin' it. I don't listen to Madonna really, but this album is a great 'club' and 'dance' album with the album's title reinforcing the theme and music. Nas and Minaj's appearances complete the album.

But Madonna is never down. Rebel Heart isn't rebellious, neither all the way Heart, instead, it is a subtle confession from an ever ambitious superstar masked as pop perfection. At first listen, I could say Madonna, THE Madonna we were all waiting for was back in the game. Hard Candy released in 2008 was risky and new but incomplete and MDNA released in 2012 was definitely fun but it lacked of that little thing that makes us think : " Yes , this is the Queen".

The Rebel side of this album is simply pure Madonna, as S.E.X, **** I'm Madonna or Holy Water. She is building this huge part of the album on the theme she masters so well. The Heart side of this album is to me the best. Living For Love, Hold Tight, Joan of Arc are some among masterpieces that album counts. Special mention to Ghosttown which is probably the best pop ballad track we have heard in years from a major artist.

If you were thinking Madonna's over, well you should carve every word before you let it fall, because the Queen is reigning and she has not "been slain"

What I love about Madonna is that she is musically ambitious. Not only she made some of the greatest pop classics of all time, but she has also made great pop records with her bold fashion choices to promote them. Not only she made some of the greatest pop classics of all time, but she has also made great pop records with her bold fashion choices to promote them. She is a Queen of Pop and an icon for that reason. This is what I missed about Madonna as well. I am a bit disappointed that she will never top off her Confessions on a Dancefloor era back in 2005, where she has topped herself as a visual music artist. And yes, I said that because Confessions on a Dancefloor is my favorite Madonna album of all-time. However, I am glad Madonna made some new music and I appreciate that.

Rebel Heart feels more like a journal kind of album where each song is more of what Madonna has in mind. So basically, I think this is how simple Madonna can get without being too plain and I actually like that. I still miss the “concept album” kind of records Madonna used to make like Ray of Light and Confessions on a Dancefloor but I appreciate Rebel Heart for its simplicity with the Madonna twist.

Lyrical wise, Rebel Heart is what her previous record MDNA should have been. I love how Madonna gets a bit more personal in this record. I can totally tell that Madonna wrote those songs, especially the songs that has guitar being played as the main instrument like Body Shop and HeartBreak City and the songs that definitely spoke to her personality like Unapologetic **** and **** I’m Madonna. I also loved how Madonna is being retrospective about her earlier career by sampling the bridge of Vogue onto Holy Water and Madonna recalling the days of her career youth on Veni Vidi Vici. This is probably the best lyrical effort from Madonna since Confessions on a Dancefloor.

Production wise, there are some reviews I have read that it’s overproduced which I disagree. As much as I like her previous record MDNA, that record is definitely overproduced with tons of dance tracks. Rebel Heart has a fresh electronic dance sound that I really liked and it’s refreshing to hear. I also like how simple Madonna wanted to make by making some of the songs a bit more acoustic than her usual ones.

One thing I didn’t like about this record were the underwhelming collaborations. Chance The Rapper’s rap verse feels so out of place on Iconic which is an otherwise a great song from the Queen of Pop. Nicki Minaj’s rap verse on **** I’m Madonna is great and Nicki Minaj’s presence is needed for that kind of song but that’s not saying much because Nas has a much more longer career than Minaj and Nas’ rap verse on Veni Vidi Vici feels a bit lacking from a rap veteran and also because Minaj’s previous collaboration with Madonna from MDNA sounds much better.

The regular deluxe edition tracks starting from Best Night to the titular song Rebel Heart were really nice to listen and makes Rebel Heart a complete record. However, the super deluxe edition tracks starting from Beautiful Scars to Graffiti Heart, not so much for me but I am sure other Madonna fans would appreciate the tracks more than I do.

Although Madonna will probably never top off her Confessions era, I do agree that Rebel Heart is her best effort yet since Confessions on a Dancefloor in terms of lyrical style. It’s nice to hear some new Madonna songs again.

While the album itself seems like it should have been split into two separate albums as it goes from dance to ballad all to frequently, it is an amazing piece of art. Never have I been this bored by the Queen of Reinvention. I don't know how it happened (too much Diplo and not enough Avicii maybe ??) but RH sounds even less Madonna than its much loathed predecessor MDNA.
There is no "iconic" moment (pun intended), no breakout song, no showstopper. GHOSTTOWN and JOAN OF ARC are the only above-average material, and the rest, this huge pile of songs-about-everything, is ok at best.
MDNA, in all of its mediocrity, still had five/six fantastic songs, and an uplifting, happy air of abandon, as in "Join the party".

Neverthless, this record has a problem: it's split down the middle. Seriously, it seems like the first half was written by Kiesza and the second half by Taylor Swift, so if the album starts with minimal-electro based ballads and pop tracks, then it gets lost in an endless crop circle made of almost tasteless countryish songs.
It's pretty obvious 'Living For Love' was chosen as the lead single, since it's the only track which has a 100% efficient pop flavor, with its musical composition and dance spirit similar to other female hits like 'Break Free' or 'Applause'. Without 'Living For Loveì and others excellent songs like 'Ghosttown', 'Devil Pray' and 'Aviciicted' (ops! I mean 'Addicted') Rebel Heart would've been a mediocre album, which still doesn't take any particular risk (except for the literally whining bonus track 'Autotune Baby') and we know Madonna loves taking risks so I don't know if maybe some crazy fans could be disappointed about that.
    Featured artists? USELESS.

Buy Rebel Heart if you enjoy warm music (Ghosttown is really beautiful) but if you were expecting a hot club album, don't buy it! It's not like MDNA!

Madonna always delivers great albums but sometimes she creates even better - epic ones. Like Ray of light, Like a prayer and Confessions on a dance floor. Rebel Heart is in the league of her best albums. I am so happy for Madonna and her fans. There is no other musician as generous to fans as Madonna is. I play my copy of the album nonstop. Loving it.

I'm not entirely sure why Madonna's latest concept album again has little to no concept. In "Rebel Heart" we see a mash-up of MDNA, Hard Candy and a string of her hits from the 80s. Despite some great producing, there is little to no originality, and far less interest.

Very intimate and well done album. 100% Madonna in all tracks. The rebel and heart songs mixed together to create an experience where you have to listen to the whole album. It's like a story. It's not a Pop album like we have today where people put a lot of singles together, it's the whole thing making difference.

Even with the corny songs **** I'm Madonna, Holy Water, S.E.X) you can tell that it is just her being honest about who she is and what she represents. Also positively, the album incorporates a larger variety of original and innovative sounds than previously. I will give this nothing more than a 7.5 but metacritic won't let me so I'll settle for a 7. It would have been a big 8 if not for those 3 terrible songs I mentioned.

Ghosttown and Iconic are the best songs on the album. I hope they catch momentum. Anybody that tries to say to you that **** I'm Madonna is a good song is a flat out liar. With lyrics like:

(We're jumping in the pool and swimming with our clothes on
I poured a beer into my shoe and got my freak on
The neighbor's pissed and says he's gonna call the Five-O
If they show up then we are gonna give a good show)

on that song, you can tell she is just trying to hard. Is Five-O still a thing?

or on Devil Pray where she sings:

(And we can do drugs and we can smoke weed and we can drink whiskey
Yeah, we can get high and we can get stoned
And we can sniff glue and we can do E and we can drop acid
Forever be lost with no way home)

is just mehhh... The song has a good beat. Better lyrics would have been nice. I still feel she is recycling music with this one too. Sounds too much like Don't Tell Me which had an amazing beat with great lyrics. This is a bad remix.

I could continue with each song on Rebel Heart, but you get my point. It's a great remix album for hardcore Madonna fans, but there is nothing new here. Save your money.

No one has bothered to inform Ms. M that her era is bygone and she owned it all but now the lease is not being renewed, however she persist in trying to fit in with today's vibe knowing that she has no more trails to blaze, just burned bridges behind her.

The songs themselves are laborious to listen to. When they are good they make you wish a younger voice was performing them. When they are bad you wish she would have had the strength to admit it. This album has the feel of a hostage situation with producers tied to chairs being forced to crank out "newish" sounding material or else! Maybe it was out of pity or respect for such a grand icon that these poor guys trudged ahead-who knows. In the end you see and hear the fading starlet doing her best Norma Desmond. She is ready for her close up but really she needs to let the camera fade back leaving whatever dignity she can salvage intact so that she can finally take a long overdue bow and realize that its not her place to party with the young people in a skirt that's way to short and tacky and only brings to mind our grandmother trying to relate to the children who are too loving and polite to take her back to her place before she does something else to cement the fact that for the remainder of her career she can do nothing more than make an utter fool of herself.

Grace Slick said it best when she stated that 'no one wanted to see her try to get up on stage at this point'. She is happy with her legacy as rock royalty and is satisfied and doesn't feel the need to recreate past glories. Madonna really should take a page from that book and allow herself a graceful exit and the satisfaction of knowing that she will forever be a legend and that it is enough to have "came, saw and conquered",

Musically, this album is far more interesting than anything on MDNA. She definitely made a good decision with producers this time around. That being said, WTF is she thinking making such a long album? 23 songs on the Super Deluxe Edition, are you kidding me?? Maybe she's just being generous, but I would probably give this album a 9 or a 10 if she whittled it down to the best 12 or so and stuck with that. I'll admit, most of the songs are at least tolerable, but at this stage of her career Madonna should realize that there's a bunch of music out there that's at least tolerable. If she wants to stay relevant, she should really be pickier about what she's putting out there.

The initial leak was hugely destructive I think, and perhaps lead her to change some things simply for the sake of new material over the leaks. That is truly unfortunate that a criminal act should lead to a somewhat weaker album. The lyrics and melodies are top-notch for the most part and are only let down by weak production here and there. The "heart" songs are consistently great, while some of the "rebel" tracks are weaker and don't add much to the overall album. Considering the number of producers, there is still a unifying sound to the album and it doesn't sound dated, nor reaching to be too current; I think it will age well. Until follow ups to 'Ray of Light' or 'Confessions' come out, this'll certainly do the trick.

Es un buen album. A medias.

Rebel Heart venho pra esquecermos do álbum anterior horrível MDNA.

"Rebel Heart" is her best album since Confessions On A Dancefloor. It's a messy piece of work, but a very rewarding mess indeed. I find this to be her most poignant album to date.

Rebel Heart leans too steeply into too many trends at once, making it a scattered affair that flashes between drudgery and brilliance.

Rebel Heart is the first Madonna album for a while that's at least as much for listeners as it is for dancers. Sometimes this shines too hard a light on what she has to say. [Apr 2015, p.88]

Rebel Heart grows confusing and irreconcilably uneven as it progresses.
