With Reckon, Collett offers an unblemished view of all its troubles and travails. To his credit, this tireless troubadour puts it all in perspective.
  2. It's tender, touching and not nearly as miserable as its subject matter suggests.
  3. 80
The folksy settings are tinted with brooding strings and tearful pedal steel, adding colour to well-turned lines.

Reckon is a statement that hits hard (and close to home) if you'll give it a careful listen.
  5. Oct 24, 2012
    64
Permanently set on "saunter," these songs' clever structures are often overshadowed by their aw-shucks delivery.

It's very diversity makes it a little impersonal and even arch, but there are strong songs here and a retrospective disc shows there's plenty more where they came from. [Jan 2013, p.102]
  7. Under The Radar
    Nov 30, 2012

Collett uses instruments sparingly. That coupled with his clear tones is too simplistic a combination. [Oct/Nov 2012, p.128]
