    Thanks to the sincerity and strong melodies that have been Maximo Park's mainstays since the beginning, Risk to Exist combines good intentions with good music.

    Risk To Exist's strengths lie with great melodies set to lyrics that seem to predict the confusion and anxiety surrounding Brexit in their native country, along with the election of Donald trump. [Apr-Jun 2017, p.82]

    Overall, this is a much better album from the now quartet from the North-East. While it is still a long way from achieving the status of A Certain Trigger, Risk To Exist reveals Maxïmo Park in a new light and is certainly a step in the right direction.

    Fresh and chirpy as ever, even if also as usual the subject matter can meander from downer to positive over the space of a few lines. It's not their best outing but there are certainly some gems here. Most notably opener 'what did we do to you to deserve this', 'work and then wait' and title track 'Risk to exist' Full Review »
