  1. While some of the tracks sound like rough sketches that were simply given a bit more shading, most of Senior captivates as a full-length experience.
  2. It can't be said that Senior fails to meet its modest wallpaper-ish aims, yet it hardly represents the best Royksopp has to offer.

Maybe it's just its drastic contrast with the chirpy and pop-friendly Junior that makes Senior seem so dreary, but even out of context, Royksopp's latest seems like a poor, thoroughly underdeveloped and, dare I say it, unfinished effort.

  5. It is pleasant, and largely forgettable.
  6. It's maybe a little older and a little wiser than Junior but it just isn't anywhere near as much fun.
  7. Lack of pop structures be damned, the Norwegian duo have created a freewheeling, pleasant affair--even if we get the feeling we've heard it all before.

The patient, thoughtful strokes here are sometimes interesting but rarely exciting.
  9. Senior makes a strong claim to be 2010's best electronic album. It's a record to lie back and drown in.

While Senior is sometimes reminiscent of Royksopp's stellar 2001 debut Melody A.M., it also feels like a poor man's attempt at an Air record.
