estereFeb 24, 2004superb. frusciante should be the lead songwriter of the peppers, although there is a chance that anthony's singing will just ruin these lovely tunes.

janpFeb 29, 2004i think yhis album is full of genius(regret, ricky!) but i dislike the eletronic only songs. they kill the flow of the album but defenitely pure genius is in it!!

RockRollMar 20, 2007This album is astounding, the lyrical depth and musical creativity knocks me down. With songs like Regret and The Slaughter, this might be one of Frusciante's strongest albums

GaryRSep 15, 2004This album is a masterpiece. Lyrically and musically it is close to perfection. Hardly surprising given that John wrote the guitar part for Under the Bridge. Lennon and McCartney would have been proud to have written these songs - but they didn't.

ShawnMMay 2, 2007Shadows Collide With People is the album where Frusciante really seems to have honed in his creativity and sharpened his sound to deliver a sound that is both breath-taking and beautiful. While still staying true to his other work, 'Shadows' can be seen as the re-invention of Frusciante's sound rather than the rebirth.

JeremyDDec 17, 2004John is one of my favorite guitarists/songwriters ever and this album is a fair representation of his skill levels as a solo artist. My favorite song would have to be song to sing when I'm lonely because it's a really catchy song with awesome lyrics. Overall great album.

BlenderMany of the songs here could be Peppers tracks, except for the absence of Anthony Kiedis's vocals. [Apr 2004, p.128]
-
Mainstream, bleeding-heart balladry, tempered by slightly outre arrangements.
-
Full of a lush, bubbling beauty that proves Frusciante's personal rehabilitation has taken his music further than ever.
