BronsonWSep 1, 2009I don't know what some of these people on here expect... This is a great record full of rockin' hooks and fun tunes. Lighten up.

DustinW.Sep 4, 2009This is sheer brilliance. I thought they had run out of material but I was pleasantly mistaken.

BarryMAug 30, 2009Cester's song writing has evolved from a tired-old formula that overly-mimics influences, to finding the right alchemy that delivers some solid tracks. Check out 'Seventeen', 'K.I.A.', and 'Goodbye Hollywood'.

JohnLSep 17, 2009It may not be as great as the first album but this is still brilliant. Some of you guys need to be a bit more realistic and less like jerks.(I'm talking to you Phil M).

Jun 6, 2013Poor rhymes in a few songs is made up by the great tracks of She's a Genius, Black Hearts On Fire, Walk, Seventeen, and Goodbye Hollywood. Along with mediocre tracks such as La Di Da and K.I.A

DamoD.Sep 25, 2009This is a great rock n roll record. Really upbeat, cool choruses and big fat hooks. Great party record. Jet just get hammered by critics, they don't even give them a chance. As Bronson W says lighten up not every rock n roll record is out to change the modern face of rock music!.

ChrisT.Sep 2, 2009A solid effort to approximate various rock genres from garage, indie, piano, even elements of disco. A bit risque but worth a good listen. 'Walk', 'She Holds a Grudge' are gems amidst an otherwise decent album with a medley for all tastes. Sadly the Japanese version has two songs that are more akin to the Jet balladry of Get Born fame and SHine On gravitas.

MattCAug 29, 2009First album was good, second not so much and this is just outright bad. Doing nothing original was fine the first time but now it sounds like they aren't even trying but then again maybe that what to expect.

AtulAAug 28, 2009Quite a bad album, unlike past albums this does not have even 2-3 songs which are worth listening to. they weren't a great band to start with, and this album just feels like self-parody.

MichaelDAug 30, 2009What happened to these guys? Ok granted they were far from original when they began but their first two albums definitely had something - a soul, a vibe, an energy. This album has nothing. It's completely void of soul. Just a really odd collection of 'rip offs'. It's a bit sad really.

RobHSep 21, 2009Horrible. What's with the 80's disco influence throughout this disc?? Reminds me of the horrible third release from The Knack. Terrible.

PhilMAug 30, 2009I really wish Jet would rhyme with SHIT. because that's what I want to say about this, I want it to be: "Jet? More like SHIT!"

Shaka Rock squanders the promise Jet showed on their previous work, and even if they soldier on and release another ten albums, this feels like the end of the road for them.
-
By and large, Shaka Rock is an unmistakable and confident move toward respectability for Jet. But it does make you wonder why it's so rough for a band to be young, dumb and full of bad come-ons.
-
They're back with another dull slog through the AC/DC catalog.
