This is Brian's best album to date since 'The '59 Sound' (TGA) and 'Elsie' (The Horrible Crowes). Some of these tracks would not be out of place on 'Elsie' - which is an absolute compliment from me. A more complete album than 'Painkillers' and a much more enjoyable listen from opening track to closing track.

Fallon unapologetically mines bygone eras for inspiration, but he does so with the care of an archaeologist on the biggest dig of his life.

Overall, the record is recognisably Fallon’s; he takes his best ingredients of trademark likeability and searing emotional insight and transfers it while changing things up musically. It’s inspiring to see a musician like him take strides and experiment, not necessarily taking the safe route.

It’s just Fallon and his microphone, crooning and crowing over these rhythm and blues-focused rave-ups, holding court over an old-school rock revival to match his restless mood.
