    Katy Perry’s new album Smile is her latest effort to come back in the pop scene. I must say this is her most cohesive album that she had released so far in her entire career. With 80’s disco and melodically nostalgic elements in “Cry About It Later”, “Champagne Problems” and “Tucked”, a club euphoric throwback sound of “Teary Eyes”, powerhouse pure pop perfection with “Never Really Over”Katy Perry’s new album Smile is her latest effort to come back in the pop scene. I must say this is her most cohesive album that she had released so far in her entire career. With 80’s disco and melodically nostalgic elements in “Cry About It Later”, “Champagne Problems” and “Tucked”, a club euphoric throwback sound of “Teary Eyes”, powerhouse pure pop perfection with “Never Really Over” and trap-hiphop infused track that is “Not The End Of The World”, Katy undeniably delivered different elements in music genres that most of the critics called out her for not experimenting and staying on her comfort zone. Production wise, it’s a solid record, given the fact that the instrumentations, synths and sonics are not repetitive. Lyrically, Katy has consistently delivered coherent topics such as hope, resilience, love and happiness which are the basic foundations for the entire album. If you have observed, there are 4 parts that are sub-divided each having 3 songs in it that tell a story in the album, which she decently offered thus making the album well coordinated. In conclusion, I think Katy Perry released one of the most solid pop record in a while. Something that you would give another shot after the initial listen.     This album is one of the best that 2020 has brought us, each single is a bop, and that speaks really well of the quality of the album. I don't know what the "professional critics" have in mind. If they have a problem with Katheryn Hudson they don't have to denote it in the album rating; the comparisons they make with other artists are pathetic and ridiculous. While this feels like another Teenage Dream, Katy succeeds in making it sound new and modern. We can hear the big productions of Witness, the empowering tones of Roar and Firework, and as mentioned before the soft rock of One of the Boys. Overall, SmileI actually really liked Smile. Para mi era imposible que Katy perry superará Teenage Dream, y este álbum me ha hecho darme cuenta que es el mejor álbum de Katy Perry hasta ahora. Ritmos increíbles y pegadizos, letras hermosas, Katy siempre ha tenido el talento de transmitir emociones y hacerte querer bailar y al mismo tiempo tener una letra increíble. Las críticas de este álbum no tienen lógica, no les hagan caso a las negativas, solo son de criticos que desearon ser artistas y no pudieron y tienen que conformarse con pensar que saben de música y escribir sobre eso, les gusta lo que esta de “moda” entonces ellos no son importantes como para tomarlos en cuenta. TD también tuvo criticas malas y fue el álbum que hizo que Katy Perry igualará un record de Michael Jackson, Prism fue #1 y también tuvo malas críticas al igual que Witness que fue #1. Entonces los criticos no valen la pena, ellos no importan. ESTE ÁLBUM ES HERMOSO, NO TIENE UNA CANCIÓN QUE SALTES, TODO ES INCREÍBLE. Smile com certeza, ao contrário do que a crítica (que se diz especializada mas na verdade parece ter um certa implicância com a cantora) é um album incrível, onde todas as músicas apresentam grande potencial para serem singles. Nesse album Katy se entrega e mostra toda a sua fragilidade, narrando a busca pela recuperação de seu sorriso que havia sido perdido após a era Witness. Never Really Over abre o album perfeitamente sendo uma das melhores músicas já lançadas pela Katy, em seguida vem Cry About It Later que é um batidão com uma guitarra que acaba dando um charme no bridge e logo após temos Teary Eyes completando a trindade de bop's do album... essa é simplesmente linda e contagiante. Seguimos com Daises e Resilient com vocais poderosos e mensagens tão poderosas quanto. Not The End Of The é um hit pronto que parece ser uma filha de Dark Horse com Black Widow. Smile é algo bem próximo da clássica Katy que conhecemos. Champagne Problems e Tucked têm uma pegada mais retrô que combina muito com a cantora... são músicas extremamente radiofônicas e são muito boas em seu contexto todo. Harleys In Hawaii é uma música suave com a vibe bem gostosa, enquanto Only Love tem uma letra linda e arrepiante e What Makes a Woman fecha o album perfeitamente com a Katy finalmente se reconhecendo, superando e encontrando o que a faz feliz. É um album muito bem produzido e com hits dentro, mas que além disso passa uma mensagem linda de superação, perseverança e resiliência. Talvez seja o melhor album da cantora até o momento ou talvez só perca para o lendário Teenage Dream. Talvez daqui alguns anos os críticos reconheçam isso, como sempre acontece com os trabalhos anteriores de Perry, mas o fato é que isso não altera em nada a qualidade do album e nem quebra a mensagem passada.… Expand

    Smile is, musically, the same thing that Katy has been offering for some years, there's no evolution in that sense. However, her lyrics feel more intimate, personal, is like she wants to shout out what she really feels. I enjoyed this album ❤️

    Esse com certeza é um dos melhores álbuns de toda a carreira da Katy , ela conseguiu entregar um álbum atual nostálgico e ao mesmo tempo com músicas que vão de baladinhas a electro pop.
    E o conceito de fazer as pessoas sorrirem realmente deu muito certo

    Honestly I loved this album, I'm not a Katy stan but was curious about her new work and been amazed from start to end. After I read the backstory and her personal struggles during the production I empathized with her and loved it even more

    Without fleeting moments of bad taste, Perry does indeed sound mature, but she's also not quite as fun. That's a conscious choice, though. Smile is intended to evoke memories of her frivolous younger days while pointing toward a sustainable pop future.

    Like Joanne before Chromatica, Smile plays like a necessary centering exercise, indulging her insecurities and less surefire instincts. If Witness was overdetermined, Smile is an earnest exhale, for better or for worse. It delivers an image of her journey towards inner peace that is honest (if corny) and catchy (if not exactly inventive).
