    Listening to the album, it looks as if Katy is in a better shape than she was a few years ago. It might have become clear that she might not be a record breaker anymore, however, I think it is much more important to make music that reflects the artist’s feelings and emotions. “Smile” has definitely made me smile.     The brand of KATY PERRY is back and better than ever with her Smile. The album is one of the only albums this year that actually tells a story, the plot of the songs have meaning. This album is about Katy’s experience during the hardest years of her personal and career life and how she was able to come out of it and truly smile again. Tracks like “Cry About It Later” and “Teary Eyes” helpThe brand of KATY PERRY is back and better than ever with her Smile. The album is one of the only albums this year that actually tells a story, the plot of the songs have meaning. This album is about Katy’s experience during the hardest years of her personal and career life and how she was able to come out of it and truly smile again. Tracks like “Cry About It Later” and “Teary Eyes” help unfold the first act of the album which shows her dealing with unhappiness but having to keep going for her career and well-being and just trying to ignore her sadness. The second act of the album is opened by her iTunes number one single “Daisies” and track 5 on the album “Resilient”. These songs are the empowerment stories of the album. Resilient explains Katy’s way of pushing back the hate and hard times she’s experienced and ultimately being resilient and pushing through to grow through the cracks that have hurt her. “I know the higher I climb, the harder the wind blows” is a lyric from Resilient and is explaining that when you reach your peak, is when life hits you the hardest. This is the middle of the album because Katy is past the sadness and she is using all her confidence and strength to push through to find her happiness again. Finally, Act III of the album is introduced by the title track “Smile”. The song is about how Katy got her smile back and that she’s grateful for her life. During the third act, we experience a release of pop bangers such as “Tucked” and “Only Love” that introduce the most pop-sounding and happy songs on the album. Tucked, Champagne Problems & Only Love reign superior. I’ll admit I was hoping we wouldn’t see any of the droplets on this album because I wanted more songs we katykats haven’t heard but here we are.     I knew this album would have been wonderful, but I didn’t expect this greatness, I loved witness since it came out, I liked so much the musical part and the lyrics, and I used to believe I wouldn’t change my idea even after Smile (A), but wow! I listened to Smile and really liked it since the first listening, and now it’s my favorite album of hers, I can’t stop listening to all the tracks,I knew this album would have been wonderful, but I didn’t expect this greatness, I loved witness since it came out, I liked so much the musical part and the lyrics, and I used to believe I wouldn’t change my idea even after Smile (A), but wow!     This album has great singles and inspiring writing. On the negative, so far it seems like there’s not as much replay value as I expected with the new tracks. The rollout was confusing and messy. She also left one of the best songs off the standard edition, Small Talk. I believe she left that song off the album due to poor feedback from fans.

    Even at its sweetest, «Smile» still feels like the the too-familiar work of a star committed to remaining pleasantly, fundamentally unchanged and that may be the only mortal sin pop music can't forgive. Rather than build on any of the sounds she experimented with in the past, Perry seems content to stay in her lane when, at this point, she has nothing to lose.

    For me this is the best KP album! I love all the tracks, specially "Cry about it latter", "Only Love" and "Not the end of the world".

    Great album it was a 9.5 yesterday. The swiftie base got made it had a better rating that folklore so they wanted to sabotage this score. It’s fine it just shows the scum that is the Taylor swift fan base. I mean they threaten to kill critics who give her albums low scores. It’s crazy that Taylor hasn’t come out and told her base to stop doing that.

Although many people think Katy is bringing more of the same with this record, she showed with "Witness" that she is able to create something more mature and deep.     Luego del tropiezo con Witness las espectativas no eran nada favorables sin embargo Perry nos demuestra que sin duda después de la tormenta viene la calma -o un huracán de 'Smile'-. Si hay algo que ella puede hacer es música pop y lo demuestra una vez más. Magnífico y coherente. ¡Excelente trabajo Katy!

    Listening to this album is actually an open book to one of her lowest moments which was 2017. Sonically every song has that different touch like electro, pop, disco, trap, ballad, 70s, edm etc... My personal favourites are Tucked and Not The End Of The World    … Expand

    Without fleeting moments of bad taste, Perry does indeed sound mature, but she's also not quite as fun. That's a conscious choice, though. Smile is intended to evoke memories of her frivolous younger days while pointing toward a sustainable pop future.

    Like Joanne before Chromatica, Smile plays like a necessary centering exercise, indulging her insecurities and less surefire instincts. If Witness was overdetermined, Smile is an earnest exhale, for better or for worse. It delivers an image of her journey towards inner peace that is honest (if corny) and catchy (if not exactly inventive).
