Solid Gold U-Roy is a fittingly triumphant final act from an artist who dedicated his life to the advancement of art. It's at once traditional and futuristic, returning to some of U-Roy's past victories and somehow rendering them even brighter and more invigorating.

A lovely reminder of the giant we lost and a righteous reminder that his legacy should be handled with care.

The album has a joyous feel and familiarity even by those who have never heard U-Roy before. Each tune rings vibrantly with highlights being the artist’s earliest hits of “Wake The Town” and the cheeky “Wear You To The Ball.”

His vocals--as exuberant in his seventies as half a century ago. [Sep 2021, p.35]

As is, Solid Gold U-Roy has its heart in the right place; even if, as an unexpected epitaph, it doesn’t quite do justice to its namesake’s pioneering spirit.
