  1. The release has a great sense of humor, and the entire thing is scattered with those weird little samples that he's so good at finding, but if you're looking for much more than that, you may find yourself disappointed.
  2. In many ways, Some of My Best Friends Are DJs is little more than a brief comedy album, filled with strange samples of eccentric characters pontificating on their record collections and audio systems.
  3. Shows a serious artist crafting his medium.
  4. This is a record stuffed with fun and joy and magic for all the family.
  5. If Some Of My Best Friends Are DJs doesn’t do anything that wasn’t done on his enthralling 2000 LP Carpal Tunnel Syndrome -- and if, at a scant 35 minutes, it’s almost over before you notice it’s on -- it’s still worth hearing.
  6. Moments of playful mixing magic are at times followed by baffling inanity.

Koala's comic gestures serve a humble purpose, masking the technical precision that underpins his work. [Nov 2003, p.88]

Koala contours his cuddly cuts for the ADD set. [Nov 2003, p.118]

Muscially adventurous and fun. [Nov 2003, p.114]

He cross-fades scratch solos and oddball sound bites like he's trying to win a DJ battle and top the Down Beat poll at the same time. [Jan 2004, p.100]
  11. Entertainment Weekly

Goofy sonic collages that won't get any parties started but will amaze you with their stunning is-it-live-or-is-it-turntable tricks. [10 Oct 2003, p.125]
  12. The Wire

    A quietly masterful concoction. [#236, p.62]

This is good!!! Wow! ^-^ I think gorillaz is really going to go some where. Now, what they need to do is come here to America - hit us up This is good!!! Wow! ^-^ I think gorillaz is really going to go some where. Now, what they need to do is come here to America - hit us up with a few more big songs, and then from there continue on with domination. America is one of the most influential countries when it comes to music - we touch all over from Mexico, to Canada - India to Malesya, Austrialia to Africa! Gorillaz is already a hit here with some (ME! For example!), if you could give it that last push Gorillaz will win over the continent! Gorillaz - Original, beautiful, wonderful. Full Review »
