    Utterly thrilling. [Sep 2020, p.32]

Always grandiose and intimate at the same time, The Lemon Twigs have managed to perfect not only an uncanny reprise of FM rock (duly aided by producer and multi-instrumentalist extraordinaire Jonathan Rado), but also the type of excitement it provoked.

What stops it from feeling like an exercise in arch, vintage chic fancy dress is the warmth of their tunes and the lively untidiness if the execution. [Sep 2020, p.109]

The 12-song album is a metaphoric, eclectic house of mirrors, inside of which every song reminds of a different prominent musical act as if the listener is seeing themselves in some distorted reflection.

While not groundbreaking, it's a revitalizing rock record that is bound to rekindle the excitement of taking a chance on a (relatively) new band.

More often than not, listening to Songs for the General Public feels like watching the D’Addario brothers throw old ’45s at a brick wall to see what sticks, snickering all the while. They want you to have a good time, and they sound tighter than ever; they just need to figure out how to control the Frankenstein that they’ve made.

Full of shiny seventies pop rock simulations, but you would be much better off putting on an old Todd Rundgren or Raspberries record. [Aug 2020, p.73]

just like iggy pop once said that this album should be called "songs beyond the general public", and i think he's absolutely right. this bandjust like iggy pop once said that this album should be called "songs beyond the general public", and i think he's absolutely right. this band is mind-blowing and recently became one of my favorites ever.

Too bad, I expected a lot more from this band, but all the songs are terrible and without any cohesion.
