[Space Homestead] could almost be a summary of their approach rather than taking their work to the next level, but Space Homestead succeeds precisely because MV & EE have so clearly constructed their particular vision.

There is a currentless drift to these nine doggypaddlers, what with the sloppy rhythms, plain-as-dirt vocals, and obligatory wah solos - but it's all so satisfying in its way.

[Space Homestead] is another in a long line of seductive drift-songs from this most wise, peripatetic and yet enigmatic duo.

The album sounds like it was written and recorded one lazy day on someone's back porch, and could perfectly soundtrack such a day.

For you kids out there planning to attend space camp, I can't think of better counselors than Elders and Valentine to take you far out where few have journeyed before.

Things are spacier than usual on the first six tracks, and there's not much melody to be found. But things cohere a bit on side two.
