The Eighties and Nineties hip-hop-beat references on the album open up a world of opportunity for the group: They’re clearly having the most fun lyrically as they update the past.

The songs that make up Sremm4Life are lean, purposeful, and to the point.

Compared to the careful sprawl of triple-LP Sr3mm, which artfully unwound the brothers’ divergent styles and production tastes while avoiding lulls, this outing can feel formulaic and less adventurous at times.

Perhaps the album could have felt a tad more engaging if it attempted to do a little more both sonically and lyrically, but Slim and Swae, as well as longtime producer Mike-Will-Made-It, know exactly what they excel at and they do an excellent job at doing just that.

This is an album that strips Rae Sremmurd down to their bare essence. Removing any excess, it allows their contradictions to come to the fore, with sometimes fascinating yet always gripping results.

What Sremm 4 Life lacks in cohesion it makes up for in energy, the most exciting Sremmurd record since their debut.

There is nothing special about it but it is generally enjoyable. I feel like this album is lacking the "pop" or "thrill" that previous albums from Rae Sremmurd/Swae Lee have had. My favorite song was "Leans Gone Cold". Full Review »

Very entertaining. A few head bobbers like Mississippi slide, but it lack consistency in that respect. I get it, you can't have a whole albumVery entertaining. A few head bobbers like Mississippi slide, but it lack consistency in that respect. I get it, you can't have a whole album of bangers but if that's what you're good at then why not. Full Review »
