Oct 25, 2012There is still strength, a tenacious hopefulness that coils around every song, even as Stay Awake revels in its delicacy.

Oct 25, 2012Scheidt is a capable acoustic guitarist with a flair for ornamentation, but well-wrought filigree does not an album make. Confronted with the choice between hearing this record again and taking a nap, I'd opt for the snooze.

Oct 25, 2012Stay Awake is an ungainly curiosity. Devoted YOB fans might be tempted by the possibility of hearing Scheidt in this new context, but I think they'll probably come to the conclusion that most of the rest of us will: Scheidt's solo effort would be good or maybe even great if it weren't for him singing all over it.
