Nas has created one of the best albums of his career since his debut album Illmatic, Street's Disciple is a work of art. I highly recommend it. Expand

Double-discs are rough; however, Nas did his thing though. One problem I have with this album is that some of the beats don't connect with some of the songs with Nas as an artist (Nas' fans and listeners and critiques throughout the years know what I'm talking about when they hear the two discs) Although he definitely made history and placed another album under his belt, I Double-discs are rough; however, Nas did his thing though. I think if songs like that were cut and beats for some others joints like American Way and Sekou Story, where he rapping 4real and just maken another song, it wouldnt b, or almost been, a classic. Unfortunately, I've only been able to listen to it once. Otherwise, I'd probably give it a 10. This is his best since Illmatic. Here, he could care less about fancy production but still has interesting beats. Clearly, he's not trying to make hits. Although I'm not a big fan of his politics, he at least says something and does it in his usually intelligent way. Unfortunately, I've only been able to listen to it once. street's disciple although not as lyrically compelling as illmatic, is arguably nas' second best album. Its a toss up between stillmatic( a classic), the lost tapes ( which has all the street credit you could ask for), and of course street's disciple. I'm tired of hearing weak reviews from critics who are disapointed that nas doesn't have 3 or 4 smash hits on street's disciple although not as lyrically compelling as illmatic, is arguably nas' second best album. An album shouldn't be judged by how many singles it has on it, nas puts out the music he does because he's trying to reduce the commercialism of rap, if he wanted to, he could sell out like chingy or 50 or diddy. But because nas is fighting the good fight he will continue to have his reputation as one of the top 5 mc's to ever grace the game. Expand

Nas is by far the best rapper on the planet. He is a well educated and informed man. Despite his success he is a very humble, god fearing man. Growing up I was a big Tupac fan because he was a great leader and was also well educated, informed and a great leader. Both Nas and Tupac tell you how they feel in their music. Both Nas and Tupac tell you how they feel in their music. Even if you know nothing about their lifestyle's, which are not perfect by any means, you can learn a lot from both of them about life, and yourself. I am a 32 white male married with two small children, and haven't bought cd's since Tupac died in 1996. Nas is the only exception. Everything else I hear nowadays is commercialized garbage. Sure, they have good beats, but they say nothing. Nas makes me want to listen to the words of the songs, just like Tupac did. Well done Nasir Jones! Expand

Well, being a true fan of the street disciple for some time now, I would have to say my man really brought it on this album. With the introductory banger sincerely to the feds and the consciencious cut live now, proves that there is no rapper on his level of thinking. Nas differs from other rappers because he paints a clear picture in your mind. I love it and recommend it to all.

To me, this album is as good a double CD as we are going to get. The quality of songs is high both lyrically and musically. Nas, once again shows he sails his own course! The beats are incredible en his lyrics oustanding, sometimes even genius, als always. Nas is the King of New York, the one and only true processor of Kool G Rap, the greatest storyteller en most skilled mc of all times!

good, his creative control runs awry at times, but in concept this is a good thing for nas. Lyrics are kinda loose, with a casual feel to them. his flow is relaxed, and you can almost hear the smile on his face in his voice at times. I think jigga's absense cleared some space for nas to be more himself and less concerned with maintaining his image as GOD MC. Godd job buddy...

Nas' best work since his classic '94 release "Illmatic." There's no filler here, as you may come to expect with many double-disc (especially in rap). Standout songs include, 'Virgo,' 'Live Now,' 'These Are Our Heroes,' 'Suicide Bounce,' 'War,' 'Remember The Times,' and 'Thief's Theme.' Great hip-hop album!

Reinforcing his political stance, coupled with his present situation of being responsible and preaching to the street, that you can be hardcore with morals. The nigga has matured a great deal and youngsters in the hood need to emulate his life.

Solid album. Would have been an excellent album if the best 13-14 tracks had been picked (i believe there were up to 15 top to decent quality tracks). Really liked the two tracks with Scarlett and 'Just a moment' with Quan. Production on the whole was not totally consistent.

  1. Street’s Disciple reveals Nas at a new peak, finally comfortable in the post-millennial hip-hop world.
  2. Yes, it's "sprawling," "massive," "has lots of filler," "should have been one disc," etc.-- but guess what: It's cocksure and it works.
