Pretty disappointing. This band's songwriting has deteriorated precipitously since the first album. The only track that has stood repeated listens is the fascinating brooding "Idle".

Very disappointing. I was a fan of their last album but this is just full of samey and forgettable tracks. They really haven't progressed at all, if anything it's a step backwards. The title track is by far the best song (I had high hopes for the album after hearing that), but it goes nowhere after that. They're still better than those overrated idiots Kasabian though.

  1. Kasabian and their brass-necks have long since appropriated The Music's mantle of anthem-whoring psychedelic horsemen and there's barely a moment over the course of 12 tracks here where they contest that.
  2. For now, Strength In Numbers, whilst not exactly redefining the zeitgeist, is a lot better than anyone could have expected.

The band remains shackled to that wearying off-beat pulse that cauise trhe likes of 'Fire,' 'Vision' and the title track to tire. [July 2008, p.112]
