Sunlight on the Moon is utterly pleasant, slightly off-kilter and melodically memorable, but if you listen to it hard enough, it’s also a bit disturbing.

The extra flair of random trumpets, strange tape experimentation, and walls of fuzz bass contributed by the rest of the band just add to the colorful wash of sound, up there with the best Elf Power compositions of the past.

Sunlight on the Moon is not the best Elf Power record, which would be a tough task for a band with so much great output, but it’s another sign of the band’s lasting sound and continued growth.
