  • Summary: 'Superwolf' is the first collaboration between singer-songwriter Will Oldham (aka Bonnie Prince Billy) and Zwan's Matt Sweeney.
Score distribution:
  1. Positive: 15 out of 17
  2. Negative: 0 out of 17
  1. Superwolf contains some of [Oldham's] most startling work yet.
  2. Superwolf is simultaneously bleak and tender, the kind of album to reveal itself in layers over time. [#9]
  3. Will’s work has seldom had a stronger sonic setting.
  4. It doesn’t feel right to be beating Will Oldham down for doing something that is so distinctly his own, even though he is doing it again and again to a greater or lesser extent.

Will's haunting voice and lyrics are as captivating as ever. This coupled with the rolling, complex and fluid guitar work of Matt Sweeney has created an album that is pure, unadulterated brilliance. I'm naming it album of the year...and it's still only February! Expand

one of the most introspective, honest, and frightening recordings I have ever heard. God, sharks, and donkey dicks; what more could one ask?

Strong singer-songwriter effort that isn't afraid to rock out (Neil Young-style) every once in a while. Well-written and well-played... Props to these guys. Collapse

Please give me a break. Please stop this right now. This album is awful and people need to stop encouraging "Bonny" prince "Billy". T There is nothing here. Expand
