In spite of the extremely high expectations, he has managed a pretty neat debut that will please fans who have been waiting since his early singles.

A rare debut, as well crafted as it is likeable.

Croll has some great, great tunes but they so often artfully distract from the rest of his approach, which can often be minimal, and lacking in effort.
  4. It won’t frighten the horses, but it might encourage you to buy an overpriced T-shirt.

It's all wrapped in a leisurely vocal style that recalls Jack Johnson--in a good way, if you can believe that.
  6. 60
His ambitious arrangements need more disarray, and less sweetness.
  7. 33
For someone who records under his own name and not that of a collective, Croll remains a mystery, a patchwork of influences content to blend in, not to stand out.

This debut album is up amongst the best I've heard in a while, after seeing him live on three tours it's great to hear the finished studio recordings of the songs he's been playing on stage for the past year or so. Expand

Excellent, fresh sound. Just saw Dan Croll live last week in Pittsburgh, great show! It is such a pleasure when an artist can deliver album quality in a live setting. Look out for this guy, great talent! Plus, I got to meet him after the show! Expand

After listening to this album i can happily say that Dan Croll is one of my favorite artists to date. This is one of the best debut albums i have ever heard. Aside from one song which i personally found boring i am utterly in love with Dan's music. Never have i found a composer who can truly put a smile on my face. I am addicted to Dan's uplifting music. And i need to mention that his live music sounds almost identical to his prerecorded tapes, unlike most artists who sadly use a profuse amount of auto tune. How this album got the score that it did is beyond me. But what i do know is this, i am hooked on sweet disarray and i need more music from Dan Croll right now! Expand
