    You'd be hard-pressed to find a prettier set of songs about love and disappointment than the ones that grace Teddy Thompson's self-titled debut.

    Teddy Thompson is able to distinguish himself from the crowd on his self-titled debut. Not all the way through, mind you: he has his moments of tedium like any other. But when he has his mojo working, it's not to be missed.
  4. Teddy Thompson, son of veteran singer-songwriter Richard Thompson, avoids the tracks laid out on his father's Celtic-tinged, guitar-centered folk rock and instead mines a pop-lite style framed in a gentle vibe.... Surprisingly, the results are better than one might expect.
  5. As a vocalist, Teddy Thompson isn't pushing too hard at the passion meter; at best, his singing rarely heats up past lukewarm. As a songwriter, however, he can generate some burn...

    Forget some of the sniffier 'professional' critics this is an excellent well written first album that is well worth adding to your collection - and playing on a regular basis. Expand
