Teenage Dream - Katy Perry
Teenage Dream Image
  • Summary: The Grammy Award-nominated singer's sophomore release is full of pop-rock gems and features guest appearances from Snoop Dogg and Rivers Cuomo.
Score distribution:
  1. Positive: 4 out of 19
  2. Negative: 2 out of 19
  1. For all the pomp and watermelon costumes, Perry is primarily a smart and personal pop songwriter. And Teenage Dream shows-in carefully selected spots-that she's ready to grow up.
  2. There's intelligence, individuality and character in abundance. But all too often it's caked in dollar-store body glitter and choked by feather boas.
  3. The remainder of Teenage Dream is a raunchy pop nightmare, with A-list producers lining up to churn out some of the worst work of their careers.

  1. Katy Perry lacks the polish that most pop acts have today, but what made her stand out than the rest was her ability to crank up insanely catchy tunes without much fuss. Believe me, when she's good, she's damn good (with the addictive 'Peacock', let me hear you sing 'Peacock-cock-cock' cause you can't resist it), when she tries too hard though... it ended up disastrously (seriously, your homage to our beloved extra terrestrial is that shallow). Still, one cannot deny that this album is filled with jam packed pop songs (at least half of it) that can instantly appeal to most, the lack of auto-tune surprises me (shame on you Ke$ha) and that alone is worth checking the album it, it's solid and too be honest, isn't it way better than 'One Of The Boys'. One of the Boys was a big promise for Katy Perry's fans (with such songs as I Kissed a Girl or Hot'n'Cold), but although this was really expected, it disappointed me. Songs as "California Gurls" or "Peacock" are the real good ones: happily, Katy's voice only seems "robotized" in some songs. "Teenage Dream", for example, it's real disappointing, because we think it's a fun, to dance for, song, but the fact it's, only good in the chorus. Katy Perry doesn't looks comfortable in this record, neither the persons full of expectations for this album - but it won't disappoint Katy-fans. Expand

  3. Dumb, hyper-sexual baloney. Just another crappy pop album. Big boobs don't equal good music. I'm really running out of stuff to say to fill into the character limit. Yeah it's rubbish. Expand
