Apr 18, 2014One of the best albums I have heard in a very long time. August actually tells a story unlike other singers who rely on sexual records to make them relevant. The entire album is fantastic but the key tracks are Testify, Make It Home, You Deserve, Porn Star, Kissin' On My Tattoos, Benediction, and Numb. The features are pretty good for a debut album Rick Ross, Jeezy, Chris Brown, and more.

Apr 3, 2015August Alsina needs more recognition from the public. His lyrics have meaning on this album and the production also makes this album one of the best R&B albums of 2014, earning this album an overall A-. Highlights: "Make It Home", "Testify", "You Deserve". Worst song: "Right There"

Apr 29, 2014This is a gratifying second step from one of the most exciting contemporary R&B artists to appear during the 2010s.
-
Apr 18, 2014Most of this album moves with slowness and throbbing deliberation that focuses the ear and adds urgency to Mr. Alsina’s confessions. It’s also poignant for its intimacy.

Apr 18, 2014Alsina’s narrative-driven niche is criminally underrepresented on the pop charts right now. Judging by the way he effectively turns his wounded past into the catalyst for a bright future--he has potential to dominate the lane.
