Pretty disappointing entry from Chance.. Seems to have included a lot of mediocre songs for streams, not the highest highs, and pretty low lows. I expected more after being a big fan of acid rap, and coloring book as well.

Album's theme is all over the place, boring songs ruin this, as well as childish tracks like "Hot Shower". Could've been a 7 or weak 8 with fewer and focused tracks.

Favorite tracks: All day long, do you remember, roo, big fish- maybe: get a bag

Least favorite: Hot shower, big day(second half), sun come down

Some tracks like 5 Year Plan and Do You Remember are good, but with 22 tracks, many of which are bad like Hot Shower and Zanies and Fools, this was a very disappointing debut album from one of the most promising artists of the decade

While the production on here is often terrific, the vast majority of this project is filled with terrible bars and bad experimentations. It was a complete slog with just a few good tracks and a few decent ones in an overlong tracklist. The skits were terrible and the features were hit or miss. I also feel Chance came off as obnoxiously preachy. Biggest letdown of the year, by far. Middling production values and insufferable, preachy lyrics. Some of these tracks are all-around terrible. I’m giving it 4 stars for the 4 good tracks on this overlong mess. Long-time Chance fan here.

As a long-time Chance fan, I expected much more from this "debut" album. It is way too long with many unnecessary tracks that should have been scrapped. Too many skits - nobody cares about skits. Boring, bloated and incredibly disappointing. Everything Chance has put out since 10 Day and Acid Rap has felt like a step backwards - with this even more so than seemed possible.
Nobody really needs a 22 track album, especially one with as much filler as this.
Actually found it a struggle to make it through the whole thing, with very few tracks I would return to. What a shame considering

Has no clear focus or tone. Comes out as a messy, long, and boring 4th album from Chance. As a big Chance fan, I didn't connect to any of the songs the way I did with his previous albums. The songs aren't creative and come out as mediocre.

Unlike prior releases, “Big Day” fails to hold the listeners attention past the laughable features and the gospel-pop induced verses.

This album has good songs few and far between, but is mostly just a drawn out boastful album that didn't need to happen. Disappointing considering his previous mixtapes.

Great concept but bad execution. It's TLOPy in a way but it doesn't work. It's not that bad but it didn't live up to the hype of a Chance debut AT ALL. It's painfully mediocre at times but there are nice musical moments. When truly listening to this, Compare it to his contemporaries not to his other work because that's not fair.

Summary: HUGE let down but after the dust settles, people

I was going to grade this a little bit more harsh because of the big disappointment it brought me. I came into this project with high hopes but ended up getting let down. First of all this 22 track album was too long and it felt like a chore to listen because of the unorganized structure it contained. Although it had some tracks that were enjoyable, it also had tons of tracks where it was just dragging the album. Verses contained tons of lyrics mentioning his wife and how happy is to the point it just got corny. No it is not bad to talk about how happy you are in life and how beautiful your marriage is, but it was to the point where it got audience's saying " We get it chance you're married!" Overall the project was messy and not as captivating as his last projects. He really could've just made this into an ep with some tracks on this list. The best songs in my opinion were Hot Showers, Handsome, Ballin Flossin because I like the Chicago house beat type of feel, and All Day Long.

If you are a Chance fan give it a listen, but don't expect much.

Over all the album gets a C+ (or 6.15/10 more accurately) for the amount of emotion put into the project. It's not what a lot of people were hoping for, simply because of what came before it. I think it has very little potential, what it lacks isn't substance or grit but simple put it, appeal. Coming off of 2 brilliant releases, Chance drops a dud. Overfilled with tracks, features, and at times extremely corny lyricism, this album does nearly nothing for the listener. Chance really had something to say in his previous 2 projects, in this one it seems he would rather have a popular TikTok dance craze.

This album finds itself wandering far too into pop territory, without the accompanying substance and adventure that made his preceding releases so refreshing. [Oct 2019, p.67]

TBD, on the other hand, wrangles with value-laden mindlessness in a manner that is both fun and endearing. TBD succeeds, in other words, on the merit of its recontextualisation of current trends into a project that is equal parts soapbox and sellable product.

Occasional nearsighted lyrical perspectives and three or four excellent but inessential tracks keep The Big Day from quite reaching masterpiece status, but it's still the most grown up (and the most polished) rendering of Chance's eternally bright spirit in his catalog.
