Sep 13, 2020Just a few good tracks. The album is kind of a disappointment considering his talent.

Jul 2, 2020Coming off of 2 brilliant releases, Chance drops a dud. Overfilled with tracks, features, and at times extremely corny lyricism, this album does nearly nothing for the listener. Chance really had something to say in his previous 2 projects, in this one it seems he would rather have a popular TikTok dance craze.

Jul 31, 2019Biggest letdown of the year, by far. Middling production values and insufferable, preachy lyrics. Some of these tracks are all-around terrible. I’m giving it 4 stars for the 4 good tracks on this overlong mess. Long-time Chance fan here.

Jul 31, 2019Some tracks like 5 Year Plan and Do You Remember are good, but with 22 tracks, many of which are bad like Hot Shower and Zanies and Fools, this was a very disappointing debut album from one of the most promising artists of the decade

Jul 30, 2019I would be say that im highly disappointed because this is not the Chance we used to know...

Jul 27, 2019This album has good songs few and far between, but is mostly just a drawn out boastful album that didn't need to happen. Disappointing considering his previous mixtapes.
-
Jul 27, 2019Has no clear focus or tone. Comes out as a messy, long, and boring 4th album from Chance. As a big Chance fan, I didn't connect to any of the songs the way I did with his previous albums. The songs aren't creative and come out as mediocre.

Jul 27, 2019Unlike prior releases, “Big Day” fails to hold the listeners attention past the laughable features and the gospel-pop induced verses.

The WireSep 13, 2019This album finds itself wandering far too into pop territory, without the accompanying substance and adventure that made his preceding releases so refreshing. [Oct 2019, p.67]

Aug 6, 2019TBD, on the other hand, wrangles with value-laden mindlessness in a manner that is both fun and endearing. TBD succeeds, in other words, on the merit of its recontextualisation of current trends into a project that is equal parts soapbox and sellable product.

Aug 1, 2019Occasional nearsighted lyrical perspectives and three or four excellent but inessential tracks keep The Big Day from quite reaching masterpiece status, but it's still the most grown up (and the most polished) rendering of Chance's eternally bright spirit in his catalog.
