p.s.wOct 1, 20029A very promising debut indeed. Reminds me a lot of The La's with a dash of Stone Roses. Kind of rough folk-rock sound. And they are just kids, by the way - no way to tell from the ecelectic music. So young, so talented, so unfair. These people might grow big.

WillLJun 16, 200310Had never heard of this band before, but it was a featured CD in a Boarders Books kiosk in Washington DC, so I had a listen in the store. Heard about three songs and I was hooked. Bought the CD, and I can?t take it out of the CD player. You must go out and get this CD, you will love it!!!!!

Apr 10, 20139The album is lots of fun, among the best British debuts of the decade. The occasional beefheart guitar work is nice. Nothing to inventive, but its ambitious for a debut, especially considering the average age of the band when they made this.

60This is no whimsical, fey take on folk music, rather a bold, buoyant frug with the skeletons of The Doors, Teardrop Explodes and other likeminded explorers of the stoned side.
-
70An eclectic, often crazed debut album.... They have all the hallmarks of an excellent, innovative band that won't be undone by their own hype. [Sep 2002, p.105]
-
A record that's as hard to ignore as it is to pin down. [14 Mar 2003, p.66]
