10/10 - "An album with a distinct dual personality, Marina’s dazzling ‘The Family Jewels’ pitches the confident, MTV Awards-headlining superstar of our dreams against a more self-deprecating girl-next-door Marina who’s dead set on Supertramping and vamping her way out of her fug" - NME

Marina's debut album is quirky and catchy and quite honestly one of the best debut albums of all time. While many critics have deemed her singing on this album annoying, I consider the singing on the album wonderful and unique. The lyrics are sharp and the songs are all beautifully individualistic, making the whole album an addictively enthralling experience from beginning to end.

I can't believe how an album can amaze me like this. All tracks are perfect in their style, the lyrics are so strange, amazing and funny! The songs are really catchy and funny, they are great. And Mowgli's Road really makes me happy, idk why but there's something in the song that's very happy. Best songs are I Am Not A Robot, Mowgli's Road and Obsessions.

I think it's the best album of Marina! I love that Marina talks about other topics that aren't love because I'm tired of listening to the same love songs.. I love 'Seventeen' 'Guilty' 'The Outsider' 'Hermit the Frog' 'Numb' Wonderful!!

without a doubt in my top 5 best pop debut albums of the 2010s. a stunning effort displaying originality, deep thinking and emotional intelligence. what stands out perhaps the most from this album is that it breathes no matter how many times one listens to it. Electra Heart was good and Froot was pretty fantastic, but neither matched the ingenuity present here

from dazzling Kate Bush-esque art pop (I Am Not a Robot, Mowgli's Road, Numb) to bouncy and fun (not to mention relatable) new wave/synthpop (The Outsider, Shampain, Oh No!), the orchestration and production is superlative
top tracks: I Am Not a Robot, Are You Satisfied?, Shampain, Hermit the Frog, Mowgli's Road and the splendid and profound (bonus) title track

10/10 - Antigo testamento define. Não há como pular nenhuma música já que tudo flui suavemente, desde a new wave "Are You Satisfied?" ao ambiente melodramático de "Rootless". Sem dúvidas um dos melhores discos dos anos 2010.

Marina has a good sense in several areas from the costumes to the choreographies that are excellent, I love the style of this album because It has many styles of sound so unique as their lyrics which is currently not very common in an artist , Family Jewels for my opinion is a good album that should have in my collection of discs along with ELECTRA HEART, is an album with very good quality

I'm not gonna lie, Marina is my favorite artist. She is really was born for music, for doing the art. In this debut album, any teenager will find himself. Every song is impregnated with truth, sincerity, and genuine. 'Coz Marina go through this actual teenage SH*T only by herself.
Really appreciate this album. It gives me the notion that the black band is not eternal and one day in front

My favorite album of all times. There is no other album that i relate to this well and describes me this well. The pop rock-y and weird instrumentals sound amazing with Marina's great voice. The lyrics are the most meaningful. The style of this album is so dark and unapologetic. An album that talks about family issues, self hate, loneliness, social anxiety and eating disorders.

Marina 'Mad Hatter' Diamandis displays brilliant talent, wicked humour and a sense of complete and utter honesty. Her music is real, it's her and it's very much alive.

Marina's debut is near perfection. It contains the right amount of subtle self-loathing mixed in with beats and textured vocals. Overall her strongest effort to date. Download: Shampain, I Am Not a Robot, Hermit the Frog, Oh No!

This is such a classical album! The Family Jewels is a good start to Marina, and a very cohesive and well produced album. The lyrical content is amazing in all the songs, with really meaningful and critical lyrics. "Are You Satisfied?", "Obsessions", "Hollywood", and "Oh No!" are my favourites.

  1. ["Hermit the Frog" is] a rare moment of fun, though; mostly Ms. Diamandis doesn’t let herself get comfortable. She’s strongest on the songs that nod, obliquely or otherwise, to fame.
  2. The Family Jewels is a record that is creatively ubiquitous and aggressive, traits that make this album not unlike Amy Winehouse's Back to Black or maybe even Liz Phair's Exile in Guyville.
  3. On her debut album, The Family Jewels, Diamandis backs up her bark with a promising bite.
