As far as historic compilations go, this is an undeniable belter, successfully capturing music with a very particular energy worth celebrating.

The second set might not be as powerful as its predecessor, but the milieu it conjures is still engrossingly evocative. [May 2012, p.61]

Like it or not, the synths are here to stay, and The Minimal Wave Tapes Volume Two adds several more fascinating pieces to the puzzle.
  4. Jun 13, 2012
The tracks are truly hidden gems, kept from mass appraisal via DIY distribution methods in the '80s, home-recorded cassettes and vinyl. Vasicka and Peanut Butter Wolf's efforts here revive and catalog some truly infectious would-be synth classics.
  5. A wonky, Teutonic thing full of outré drama and should-be pop classics.
  6. Jun 13, 2012
It offers no new narrative or stated focus and thus represents nothing more than the second gleaning of tracks from the cloistered minimal wave universe. Still, there's something undeniable here.
