    Awake is the New Sleep is one of my top five favorite albums. Unfortunately, this one doesn't quite measure up, but I love how much Ben Lee wants the listener to have fun and, for the most part, he does a good job of it. I buy his albums... my friends buy his albums... intelligent people interested in sometimes listening to music that isn't completely moody and dramatic just Awake is the New Sleep is one of my top five favorite albums. Unfortunately, this one doesn't quite measure up, but I love how much Ben Lee wants the listener to have fun and, for the most part, he does a good job of it. I buy his albums... my friends buy his albums... intelligent people interested in sometimes listening to music that isn't completely moody and dramatic just because it can be... that's who buys his albums. This album, while not his best, is still fun!… Expand

    While Lee’s preachy lyrics often feel forced and rarely reach beneath the surface of the issues, the man known for homespun sing-alongs retains his catchy strumming and perfect blend of sweet and funny musings, making it difficult not to root for him.
