Apr 17, 2023Enquanto as três primeiras faixas são obras-primas atemporais, o resto do album deixa muito a desejar, nem sequer me lembro delas.

Aug 10, 2017A baroque rock infused record with dark undertones and thrilling riffs, operated by Matt Bellamy's powerful trademark voice, makes for a compelling listen start to end. A few songs are dull to the ears, but overall the album shows that the band are undoubtedly talented and versatile. Good album.

Jul 23, 2017First Muse album I can actually sit through (second one would be The 2nd Law). I love it, it's a great album if you want to be introduced to Muse's work.
-
Dec 31, 2016Following the absolute bullet train that was BH&R, 'The Resistance' is what happens when a train going at full speed goes off the tracks and refuses to stop. For every moment I was excited, there were 20 where I was bored or disgusted. Muse is trying to expand their horizons, but they've started that journey by going in the wrong direction.

Nov 2, 2015Another great album from Muse, which includes a couple of my favorite Muse tracks; "Unnatural Selection" and "Resistance." Someone mentioned that it was on par with Origin of Symmetry, and while that can be argued, I believe that it may not be quite on par with OoS, but nonetheless, this is still a fantastic album.

Oct 13, 2014The songs on the album sound nothing alike, and some just aren't that great, but I'm giving props to Muse to experimenting and being bold and bombastic. It takes guts to put a "Symphony" at the end of your rock album. Bravo. Favorite track: Undisclosed Desires
-
Apr 28, 2014There are moments where it can sound too much like one thing, and others where it simply might not be enough, but as well as that, there can be the rare moment of reward, and primarily, there's still that familiar sound of a band still on the roll.

Dec 17, 2012A good Muse album, definitely not their best but contains some excellent songs and is very well structured, a good listen that I'd recommend to all Muse fans.

Jun 29, 2012Making one stuff over and over again may get you to mainstream but may not rise your music advances the least thing to be cared about was the concept of this album far more complex but still better than Nickelback
-
Apr 26, 2012A beautiful album. The classical music compositions are astounding! The orchestrations are amazing too!! "Undisclosed Desires" is sexy and so rock n' roll, and "United States of Eurasia" is soft and very beautiful. Geniuses.
-
Jan 30, 2012Muse, being one of the best bands on the planet, have a let down with their new LP The Resistance. With Black Holes & Revelations there was some sort of progression and variety in those catalog of songs. Where The Resistance fails is it's power in creating something new and different; it is more "been there, done that."
-
Jan 17, 2012One of the best albums of Muse, great sound as always, and the parts of Exogenesis closed this album in a great way. Amazing job, hope they'll continue like this.

Sep 24, 2011This is incredibly bad, even for Muse. In this album, there is nothing that sounds like the band, everything sounds as if the songs had been taken from another band's record, and in particular from Queen's.
-
Sep 10, 2011This is very hard work Muse has done for their audience. What a great band, but listening to stuff like this, we start to wonder why rock is so underrated and why everyone goes and listens to stuff like pop and hip-hop.

May 31, 2011Questions have been raised over whether Muse had become too predictable. This album proved them wrong. There was the traditional rock sound, with graceful, piano fueled scores and a three piece symphony to finish. A very good album
-
May 31, 2011The more I listen, the more I love it. Uprising, Resistance, and Undisclosed Desires are what get you hooked, but I enjoy the whole CD rather than just the 3 singles.
-
May 6, 2011No, just no. This is not as good as the sounds of Origin of Symmetry, SHowbiz and Absolution... for me this is the second album in a musical depression.

Sep 20, 2010The most classically themed album from the Devon trio, it falls heavily from being unoriginal, unexciting and uninspired but does manage to keep Muse's over the top attitude towards their own work which still makes it a worth while listen.
-
Sep 17, 2010After Black holes & revalations i wondered if muse had lost it but they came back with an un-appreciated masterpiece. ignore Uprising and this is not commercialised one bit.Truly Great
-
Sep 5, 2010this album is Muse's best. I had never heard of them until this album came out, and I was surprised at how good they were. Some people will just buy uprising, resistance, and undisclosed desires, but if you want the full experience, go buy the whole album.
-
Aug 18, 2010Their resistance was good, even with their uprising!! Best songs ad album ever by Muse! I've only heard like 5 songs, and out of those 5 songs I must say: Excellent and well done! Awesome rock songs going on with Muse
-
JazzUpJan 26, 2010It's not that the quality is bad, but it's that the sound seems to be much eletronic. It's just I don't like only this album, but they're still my fav band.

This album is amazing, not only the track uprising but all the other songs like united states of eurasia:) they are amazing.

JanH.Dec 19, 2009This is a classic, to be ranked right up there with Queen's "A Night At The Opera" and Pink Floyd's "Dark Side Of The Moon". Gets better and better with each listening. Lots of great music in 2009, but this is the one I return to again and again on my mp3-player. Possibly album of the decade, certainly album of the year!

MattKNov 26, 2009The new album my Muse is an instant classic in my book. I find myself wondering if The Resistance is my favorite album of all time, which is not an easy task. I suggest all to listen to it and keep an open mind. The Exogenesis Symphony at the end of the album is one of the best pieces of music I have ever heard as well.

-
JesseS.Nov 26, 2009Remarkable. Resistance is...futile. It's iIn the Lap of the Gods! Oh; am I alluding to Queen? How dare they pay homage to Queen, you say? Blast you! Amazing that they're the only band on earth capable of sounding remotely like Queen, you say? Bless you! But they're not of THIS earth.

EliseE.Nov 21, 2009This album (The Resistance) is the best I have ever heard. Beating out the best of the best albums done so far. I just hope Muse (namely Matt Bellamy) creates more and more and more because it has helped me through some trying times in my life.
-
-
JTNov 9, 2009I wanted to like this album, but alas, there isn't one song on here that is even remotely as good as their back catalog. It seems more like a collection of mediocre B-Sides than a proper album. An excellent example of a band trying too hard to say something that isn't really poignant to begin with.
-
-
LolCatNov 6, 2009Not their best but a couple of songs hit the spot and the symphony was fantastic.

-
WillB.Nov 3, 2009I was really disappointed by this album, because I wanted to hear Muse. All I got was a compilation of some very obvious influences; namely, Queen.

-
BonyByronOct 30, 2009Apart from some facepalm-worthy lyrics here and there, this album is a masterpiece. Be it the stadium shaking "Resistance" and "Uprising", the operatic "United States of eurasia", the AMAZING symphony Muse had the balls to include and the GENIUS to compose. Gives me shivers and I can't stop listenning to this album. Bravo Muse, you're a bunch of geniuses.

-
-
JuliaA.Sep 29, 2009They stepped out of the usual blueprints a bit, and seemed to be a bit baffled to the new reach...but it looks like they do have some fun in this record.a bit cheesy and grandeur at the same time, I see no reason to dislike it...I LOVE IT! ...though I think if the Mon Coeur part wasn't included,it would do better for the song.
-
-
TobyKSep 27, 2009Astoundingly creative, intelligent, subtle and in-your-face where needed. taking inspiration from the early muse albums such as Origin of Symmetry, Queen and Bach, this albums created for me a unique and extremely entertaining listening experience.

-
AlexLSep 23, 2009Even the high points on this album would feel like filler on their previous records. It's a shame because I went into this really wanting to love it. I was much more comfortable with their rockier roots; this is just overproduced, pop fluff unfortunately.

JoshHSep 20, 2009A stunning album from Muse. Its one of those rare albums where you don't dislike any of the songs on the CD. Amazing lyrics are used, and the whole album is just full of great tunes, that give you that 'shiver down your spin' feel everytime you listen. My candidate for the album of the year.

-
EvilSep 20, 2009It was apparent Muse would never release another album of "Origin of Symmetry" calibre when "Black Holes and Revelations" came out, but I had no idea they could sink THIS low.

Awards & Rankings
-
"Black Holes and Revelations" may be a more commercial record, but The Resistance is Muse's most realized effort to date.
-
As it stands it’s an indulgent and, at times, gorgeous listen that merely helps restate your concrete opinions about Muse.
-
While not their best, it’s decent enough to ensure there’ll be more-- even though the truly off-the-wall moments are either rare or misguided, meaning the record feels slightly anonymous.
