  1. Ndegeocello's dreamy vocal styles buttress this boudoir-freindly work. [28 Sep 2007, p.106]
  2. 80
Even while wearing her sexuality like an honor roll sticker, Ndegeocello is dazzlingly delicate. [Nov 2007, p.98]
  3. Ultimately, The World Has Made Me the Man of My Dreams, with its irony, sincerity, seeming contradiction, and elliptical paradox, is the most expansive, complex record yet released by this always provocative artist.
  4. Though her deep voice is mixed down a little, most of Meshell Ndegeocello's seventh album--five of its tracks reprised from last year's "Article 3 EP" recalls 2002's "Cookie."

This album takes 5 plays to decode. It takes another 5 plays to fully appreciate. Many people will struggle to devote this kind of time to listening these days. It is a work of near-genius that is beyond the comprehension of the mindless masses. Keywords: Endtime/Space/Love/Suicide/Rock/African chants/Despair. Collapse

    Album of the year.
  3. The World... is cryptic, eclectic, and far out. However, it wouldn't be the Me'Shell we know and love it it was any different. An absolute must buy, like all of her records are. Expand

Very good album.A more rocking conglomerate than previous ones, with beautiful sound-scapes and small bits of real jazz.
