This album is a true and cathartic celebration of music and features some of the most treasured artists and the most hopeful future prospects. It’s all here and its glorious.

It’s got some of the best writing she’s done. And in the lighter moments or the ones where you can’t escape thinking about the sheer amount of talent-wrangling that went into it… well, what’s the musical equivalent of people-watching? “Threads” is never less than a great excuse to people-listen as she runs through her A-list of Facebook friends.

Threads is a culmination of virtually every sound Crow has explored through her career, which began with her crafting ad jingles in the late Eighties.

Running a leisurely 75 minutes, Threads doesn't seem sequenced so much as unedited; it's as if instead of finishing the album, she decided to dump every track out into the marketplace. This makes for a somewhat somnolent record, but it's better to think of it as not a complete meal but rather a buffet that contains something to please every palette.

Threads makes an admirable case for the continued survival of “L.A” as synecdoche and pension plan. The remakes comprise the album’s least compelling section.

Crow sounds wholly at ease, but for all the vocal variety Stevie Nicks, James Taylor and a rueful Vince Gill bring, she doesn't sound wholly inspired. [Oct 2019, p.89]

For the most part we're in familiar territory: the sounds are familiar, the production is crisp and the songs are full of the colour of widescreen Americana.

Sheryl Crow is one of the finest musicians in American, so much is clear to me. Her latest album Threads is a wonderful piece of honest musicSheryl Crow is one of the finest musicians in American, so much is clear to me. Her latest album Threads is a wonderful piece of honest music in every bit of the traditions from the Southern states, with lots of black soul, blues and pathos next to swamp rock or even girlie sixties.

Sheryl knows where she is coming from and is blessed with a real sound-focus to the future. Each song is very well crafted, both musically as lyrically. Listen to Thread on a decent and heavy hifi audio system, because only then you hear all the great details which together create the country-ish emotion. Threads is true audio.

There is definitely a deeply-rooted, toxic sense of hatred by many when her name is even uttered. This album, while certainly not her best, is adventurous and shows a diversity of musicianship by Crow. A well-meaning album that shows her strength as an artist. Expand
