When so much of what Juanita had written for Until the Lights Fade clearly involves a folk-rock flavour, it’s a shame it wasn’t fleshed out accordingly.

The record conjures an atmosphere of twilit sadness, but the songs themselves--languid and forgettable--fail to mark Stein out from dolorous troubadours past. [Oct 2018, p.116]

If she were to delve into dream pop/ alternative I could see her becoming just as successful. My favourite song has to be All the Way. From the very first chord you know exactly what the tone of the album’s going to be - a sort of melancholy, desert rock sound juxtaposing a country airiness and levity. I can’t wait to see what Juanita comes out with next, from America to Until the Lights Fade, she’s going from strength to strength! Full Review »
