You want depth, originality, surprises? Look elsewhere. But as the rock equivalent of comfort food, they don’t disappoint.

They embrace their essence, how they want to be broader and burlier than the rest, how they want reflection to seem like celebration and parties to be a dark night of the soul. This contradiction means the band remains an uneasy good time, but at least on Us and the Night the reconstituted 3 Doors Down have decided to look on the sunny side of life.

Us and the Night offers some bland, platitude-driven positivity, but only once shadowed by equally vague problems. There’s a thin line between building out themes for an album and getting stuck in a rut, and this one unfortunately sounds like it falls towards the latter.

These inoffensive songs will take up almost none of your mind's capacity for thought or pleasure. [12 Mar 2016, p.53]

3 Doors Down brings a new, fresh feeling to their sound with the addition of two new members. This record is still a 3 Doors Down record,3 Doors Down brings a new, fresh feeling to their sound with the addition of two new members. This record is still a 3 Doors Down record, there's no doubting that. But with it comes a new flavor that fans haven't seen before from this band. While most of their success came from their early albums Better Life (2000) and Away From The Sun (2002), after a 5 year absence between studio albums Us and the Night comes onto the scene as a fun, and idealistic album. While songs like: "In The Dark, I Don't Wanna Know, and The Broken" show this new side to 3 Doors Down. Tracks like: "Pieces of Me, Love is a Lie, and Us and the Night" stay truer to the elements that skyrocketed 3 Doors Down to fame so many years ago. But there's still life in this band, and with a new combination of artists, this may be just the tip of the iceberg. Full Review »

I have been a long time fan of 3 Doors Down and was excited about a new album. I have kistened to it about ten times and love every song. ItI have been a long time fan of 3 Doors Down and was excited about a new album. I have kistened to it about ten times and love every song. It has their classic sound mixing hard rock with mid tempo so fogs and ballads that their fans will enjoy. No big surprises. Just solid music from their genre. The musicianship is impressive and singing excellent. This is a nice break from pop songs. Full Review »
