    Louis Tomlinson’s first solo album, shows off his talent for writing honest, straightforward and vulnerable lyrics. His voice is both vulnerable and strong. Overall, Walls is a wonderful debut album.

    "Walls" is the debut album by English singer Louis Tomlinson. And that is exactly what it is: a debut album. But is this really a debut? Tomlinson has been in the music scene for about ten years, he has had the enough budget and experience to make more than a correct album. So, is this forgivable?
    Normally when any artist releases its first project, he is allowed to play around with some    "Walls" is the debut album by English singer Louis Tomlinson. And that is exactly what it is: a debut album. But is this really a debut? Tomlinson has been in the music scene for about ten years, he has had the enough budget and experience to make more than a correct album. So, is this forgivable?
    Normally when any artist releases its first project, he is allowed to play around with some sounds but not too much. This is supposed to be your presentation letter and must not be very aggressive nor very calm. This is exactly what Tomlinson does in his first record: he sings the most pure pop songs with the help of a background band, little harmonies and a small inoffensive choir.
    Louis has left One Direction but is seems that One Direction hasn't left him. He still uses the band's album formula which mainly consists in recording basic pop songs with partner love as the principal theme .throughout the whole album since writing skills are limited to it. I didn't want to make any comparison with his ex-band companions projects but here I go. Luckily, "Walls" is not as chaotic as Liam Payne's first record (which I gladly consider one of the ten worst albums of 2019) but is far of reaching the charisma of Harry Styles' "Fine Line". Globally "Walls" is oriented on feelings and life. Tomlinson had in mind to write about his mother and sister travelling to heaven, his son etc and I understand the direction he has wanted to take, but I personally found that, musically, the album is very poor and banal. Emotions are not received in the same way if musically it doesn't emphasize the subject enough and it's a shame, because the artist has many things to let out. However I felt at several moments that I was listening to an unambitious, repetitive generic British pop record that we've already heard a million times; I felt like I was definitely listening to a debut album. The songs connect very well with each other but that's because they all sound sadly the same.
    He doesn't need to grow up musically right now but it would be great for the release of his next project since "Walls" is just a nice but decent debut album.    … Expand

    Walls is a beautiful body of work. Tomlinson has a way with his lyrics, they are so vulnerable, beautiful, sad yet so hopeful! songs like "always you", "don't let it break your heart", "we made it" will make you get on your feet and dance while songs like "defenceless", "fearless", "perfect now", "two of us" will make you cry while song like "walls" will show you how louis broke down allWalls is a beautiful body of work.     Louis showed us how confident he is now without 1d, the songs are perfect for a debut album, you can certainly identify with his lyrics he deserves much more recognition for making an honest album and not full of superficial things, he sings from the bottom of his heart. i'll never get tired of this album

    It is an album with great power to become bigger. The vocals, lyrics and melodies were very well chosen and combined to make the whole discography perfect. Congratulations, this is the best album I've ever heard.

    Amazing and wonderful album, beautiful and brutally honest lyrics. He has seemed to have matured since his days in the band, lyrically speaking, and it is all reflected here.

This album does have a couple of weak spots, namely Perfect Now, but otherwise it’s really, really good.     I lovdd every second. The wait was worth it. Louis has been through so much and seeing him succeed is the best feeling in the world. Only the Brave, Walls and Habit are my favourites.

    I became Louis's fan a little recently after his appearance on James Corden's show where he performed - We Made It. I am from India and am not as much into western music as most people would be. But what attracted me was his voice. He has an unusual and unique voice, which when used well, pulls at your heart strings. His songs seem inspired from his past and the most endearing part of this is his gratitude towards the good and the bad that his life has thrown at him. He is also one of the few artists who have retained their accent in songs, which I think helps in showcasing his identity and authenticity.
    The standouts are Fearless, Walls, Kill My Mind, Two of Us, and Only the Brave.
    I look forward to what he puts forth next and hope he uses his beautiful voice effectively and experiments more in his next record.    … Expand

    Probaby one of the best albums by a one direction member of all time. It has such an interesting sound and something truly enjoyable. I don't know what's wrong with these reviews but then again, this industry has always favored the mediocre artists over true talent.

    It's a fantastic album! The way his lyrisc seems to have their own life, never failing to make you experience the depht of each word! Through his voice you can feel every emotion. He knows what he's doing! Totally worth the wait! Wish him the best for the future!

I think it's painfully obvious Louis isn't comfortable with this best feature, his brilliant voice color. Not once is his voice worth of notice in this album and it's a shame. Louis himself has said he does not like some of the songs on the album, thus, why exactly are they there?     It’s one of the best albums i’ve listened to in a while. There’s so much emotion and feelings in it, i loved it. It’s a masterpiece. All of the songs have their own thing, none of them are boring. I’ve had a lot of fun listening to it! Definitely 100% would recommend it to anyone.

    good lad with a very nostalgic sound! Listening to his stuff sometimes makes you feel like you're back to the 2000's. Although it's not the most creative album I've ever heard, I can tell he poured his heart into every word of every song, which is very important to me. Real lad with real songs, that's it. Cheers!

But also some sweet words for someone who can not yet see the beauty in themselves in Perfect Now (the song has violons, everyone), the story of a young love (maybe too young?) in Too Young and its follow up in Always You, as well as Fearless which might just be my favorite song on the album as of now, closely followed by Walls and Only The Brave (the words "It's a church of burnt romances and I'm too far gone to pray" still get me), a song shorter than two minutes that was the perfect way to end up the album, leaving in our minds the echo of Louis' unmistakable voice.… Expand

    Great vocals, meaningful lyrics, awesome production - a perfect record by all means. It has everything from piano ballads like Two of Us to indie-rock bangers like Kill My Mind. Gonna have it on repeat for a long time. Can't wait to see what's next for this talented lad!

The songs hold such deep meaning to them, his sweet voice just makes you think back and can’t help but get emotional. Or at least that’s what I felt. I’m so exceptionally proud of Louis, he’s come very far through many hard times and listening to his music feels special to me.     Louis has an unique voice that brings even more emotion to the lyrics. In ‘Defenceless’ the singer shows vulnerability and opens his heart. I feel that a lot of people will relate to the message of several songs on ’Walls’. It is a lovely album. I would certainly hear it again.

    Walls is an album that blows my mind, I mean, really exceeded my expectations, its so authentic, pure and honest, when I heard it the first time, I was feel very sentimental, every second of every song touches my heart, this album make me feel things that I don't understand. I recommend this album whit every part of me, this is a wonderful first album, is definitely another level.

    Louis Tomlinson’s debut is a beautiful authentic record that shows a vulnerable and mature side of the man we used to know as a silly boy. The album has an indie rock vibe from the 90s & 00s with some Oasis inspiration. Louis has written an honest story about love, heartbreak, and self-care with strong lyrics & powerful soft vocals. Walls deserves all the best recognition.

    This album has everything I look for in music: beautiful lyrics, astounding vocals ans incredible melodies and so much instrumentation! I love tge violins in a few songs. The lyrics make feel hopeful, and my favorite song Defenseless so far.

    I just found out about this guy recently and decided to check his album out and it turns out so great! He is so incredibly humble and nice. I really connect with his songs, his lyrics and his music, all of them seems so personal and raw. I really felt that connection between me and his songs which is amazing I would say. I will continue to support this guy definitely. Keep going Louis!

    Unbelieved how people still hate this one direction's boys. I just heard the album and the critics who puts him 54 are absolute wrong, the kid did it right and different to the actual music, stop being bad at him and be honest. This is a masterpiece that bring back our childhood

    I give every kind of music a chance and to be fair, this really surprised me. Today, when music is all about production and not lyrics, which is well and good, this album has a lot of amazing lyrics in it, not to say the production isn't good, it was really good. But being a lyrics person, I appreciate those words he's got down.     Beautiful, heartfelt album. You can tell there is real emotion in the lyrics and his voice through the entire album. It’s an album that stands on its own and isn’t like every other album. Really amazing. Great album.

    I have no words, to be his first album is an absolute masterpiece and could be his fifth or tenth time releasing an album, but it would not matter because it seems he had been through a lot and a lot of experience under his sleeve, the boy has a lot of potential and this album is just a proof of that

    Wonderful from start to finish! Louis’ vocals express his emotions in a way that is incredibly unique and his lyrical style is refreshingly honest and comforting. This album takes you on a journey and is welcoming you home. If you think it sounds like One Direction, you’re right— because Louis was the backbone of the songwriting credits for the majority of their albums. Stream Walls!

    We had to wait a little bit for this one, but oh my... It was worth it! Louis found his sound and it shows, the album is absolutely amazing. Going solo works for him, he can finally prove what a talented singer and songwriter he is.

    I'm a new Louis fan who has a hard time listening to more mainstream artists because I don't really relate to the music. Louis's lyrics are so beautiful and vulnerable that I instantly became obsessed with all of his songs. I understand that some people won't relate as much to his lyrics, but it shocks me that critics are so against Louis.     This album is a wonderful mix of where Louis has come from and where he is going musically. The songs hit the perfect blend of stripped down and catchy while the lyrics are honest and somehow feel both personal and universal. This album will definitely be in heavy rotation for the foreseeable future.

    Try as he may, Tomlinson has not quite progressed from featured voice to solo artist. For all the major changes in his life, his music seems to be stuck in place. You can take the boy out of the boyband, but not the boyband out of the boy.

    Even if the songs on Walls aren't the most distinct or memorable, they come from a place of authenticity that's genuinely heartwarming and enjoyable. Like any other settled adult, he's perfectly content to stick to the reliable and Walls winds up being the most mature and natural of the ex-1D bunch.
