    While "Hater" is a desperate attempt to get back on the radio despite its catchiness, the rest of the album finds Art Alexakis exhibiting the same earnestness that gives even his most uninspired compositions an emotional gravity akin to his previous efforts. The absence of his previous bandmates have virtually no effect.
