  • Summary: This is the first release for the new project from blink-182's Travis Barker and Mark Hoppus.
Score distribution:
  1. Positive: 4 out of 11
  2. Negative: 0 out of 11
  1. Downbeat but still catchy, tracks like "baby come on" or the New Order-ish "155" could easily have featured on blink's bleakly impressive last CD. [17 Nov 2006, p.125]
  2. Songs like "Baby Come On" and the spooky "Little Death" show the musicians finally delivering the substance that was promised on Blink 182's self-titled 2003 release.
  3. Even with its flaws, When Your Heart Stops Beating possesses a surprising vulnerability, which gives the album an understated strength and makes it such an enjoyable listen.
  4. A bit flat. [Jan 2007, p.131]
  5. 60
    blink-182 without the humor.
  6. [Many] of the songs sound like Blink castoffs.
  7. Hoppus, whose flat vocals once dovetailed deftly with Delonge's nasal whine, is sorely exposed as sole frontman. [Dec 2006, p.132]

The harmony in a lot of the songs is sort of sad. The use of minor chords create this atmosphere of sad ,yet catchy. a lot of these songs you'll end up singing in your car or something, but the album is missing a climax i didn't hear a song that really made me go "WOW" just kind of bland. Mark's ability to connect comes through once again ... really showing who the driving force behind blink's greatness was.

Great album! Hoppus is a talented songwriter and Travis Barker is amazing drummer. Songs are melodic and catchy.

This really is one of the best albums I've ever heard! blink-182 took big steps forward with every album they made (not meaning that the music got better 'cause of this), but the step that happened here is unbelievable! Great lyrics, awesome guitar and drum riffs, every single song for itself is rememberable. I would love to hear another album from this great formation; I like this work much better than anything blink-182 has ever done (including 'Neighborhoods'). Expand

Just above mediocre. Only a few songs are good. One of them being When you heart stops beating. Blink was awesome, and this doesn't even come close. However, AVA isn't all that great either.... Better luck next time. Expand
