Nov 9, 2017Wild and Reckless, for all its alleged thematic cohesion, has a relaxed, uncomplicated maturity.
-
Nov 9, 2017Wild & Reckless takes a couple steps in the right direction. This band’s optimum path, however, is still several steps away.
-
Nov 9, 2017Blitzen Trapper have always been at their best when the rubber meets the road, so to speak, and highway-ready anthems like "Rebel," "Stolen Hearts," "Dance with Me," and the soaring title cut don't disappoint, delivering a perfect blend of pathos and Pacific Northwest wanderlust, which incidentally is exactly what made Furr so compelling.
-
Nov 9, 2017The opening “Rebel” sets the tone with a country-style tale of how a good-hearted man’s attempt to live up to his father’s ideals backfires to leave him a criminal, losing his beloved’s respect and affection in the process. From there, the journey swings between ebullient celebrations of life and sombre tales of misfortune, with the shadow of Springsteen looming large over songwriter Eric Earley’s material.

UncutNov 16, 2017It's slightly pedestrian take on amped-up roots rock falls short of that particular bar {2008's Furr], but the rolling funk-blues of "When I'm Dying" is terrific, while the harrowing "Joanna" is a masterful piece of storytelling. [Jan 2018, p.18]

Q MagazineDec 20, 2017Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty sand Bob Dylan makes their presence felt, especially on the title track, but the sci-fi sound collage that starts No Man's Land and Forever Pt. 2 underline the band's subtle warping of the Americana dream. [Feb 2018, p.108]
