Lara comes alive with intricately animated expressions, moves and abilities. An arsenal of modern equipment, such as a magnetic grappling device, binoculars, frag grenades, personal lighting device and communications equipment, allows gamers to experience tomb raiding as never before. Eidos and Crystal Dynamics shaped Lara's look and movements to be an inherent extension of her skills, motivation and personality. Lara's character model features natural structure, realistic textures, detailed facial features, reactive eyes and fluid motion, all of which make her part of a living environment. New character animations and controls allow her to move through stunning environments with grace and precision, while an understanding of the game's original appeal reinvigorates the fundamental explore-and-solve adventure experience. 1. There are people that say a good game must have good graphics and some that say its gameplay is the most important. TRL has both. Great graphics and a superb gameplay make this game a true jewel.
  2. A solid title from the ground up. It has a nicely written story, with lively characters and a charismatic and sexy protagonist in Lara Croft. It has great voice acting and music, and the artists have done a marvelous job of creating beautiful and diverse locations for the game's backdrop.
  3. Tomb Raider: Legend is not only the best Tomb Raider game in years, but as far ahead as one can possibly get from the disaster that was Angel of Darkness.
  4. In this regard, Crystal Dynamics deserve all the praise, but if they will continue to ignore certain aspects in the next Tomb Raider game and will choose to go down the simplification road, there are very good chances that the next Tomb Raider will end up like "Angel of Darkness."
  5. The best new addition is a magnetic grappling device that allows Lara to move faraway items and swing across chasms. Puzzles are beautifully integrated into the environment and frustration rare.
  6. Every second of this game screams skillful design and the result is a liberating game world that feels open and responsive.

All that appeal is present in Legend, but it's attached to only half of a brilliant game. And in the end, half of a new Lara Croft game adventure turns out to be better than none at all. [July 2006, p.55]

Like a good book, trl takes you to another world. There are many puzzles and a lot of action. The graphics are great, but they are best to be viewed on an old c.r.t. t.v.. There is not much to complain about with this game. The motorcycle scenes, and a few of the scenes, especially toward the end, are a bit boring, but overall trl stays fun till the end! Expand

Need more games that are actually fun like this for PC, instead of all the war simulation and fanstasy strategy games for geeks that make up 90% of PC game releases. would be better though if the tomb raider franchise wasnt ruined by that whore Angelina Jolie. It is a wonderful game. Though it has a lot of shooting which is sometimes irritating but the graphics are excellent.

Hate the W is forward, but A and D are not strafing, but turning you too look to the right and look to the left, where W will now send you in the direction she's facing. At least it has a free camera that can go all around, so it's "point the mouse where you want to go then push W"

This means on PC, a game pad, or another stilted movement system where there is a "placing" sort of thing needed, not as bad, but still like the last game. Certainly not as free-flowing as Prince Of Persia, for example.

Nice only graphics and only good sound, but a brilliant opening theme tune and game intro. Reminded me of those 80's cop's shows like Starsky and Hutch, striking music and fast animations in silhouette and action movements.

So better than the last game, but by not as much as I would have liked. This because of lazy console conversion - again! And by extension a crazy keyboard layout (H to fire gun?) Graphics not as good as they could be, now that we have seen Half Life 2 (which is 2 years old! Reminded me of the Freelancer graphics, if you've played that game) but they are good enough to do the job.

Also have a feeling there will be bugs. When you cannot read the text box leading into a mission because the level loads too quickly and the box disappears before you can read all the text you know it hasn't been play-tested that well.

So I give it a 7. Getting better, but still not the Tomb Raider games we knew and loved 10 years ago, which after all, is what Crystal Dynamics promised us.

To me, by changing the controls to reflect the camara view, it has made it harder and more difficult to position laura. I also understand To me, by changing the controls to reflect the camara view, it has made it harder and more difficult to position laura. I also understand that she would not be able to do some of the jumps and other moves if not for this type of controls. I also liked the ability to save where i wanted and so fat playing this game i can only save at check points. It may be that i am apposed to change, but at least if i wanted to jump i knew what buttons to push and what direction she would go. Now i get confused and over half the time i jump the wrong direction. Thank you for the game. I have all the tomb raider games and hope to have more. This is the only pc game I play. Expand
