Liberated tells a poignant story through a beautifully drawn series of comics that seamlessly integrates simple but captivating gameplay.

More than the sum of its parts, Liberated tells a rollicking tale with plenty of style. It doesn't run as well as it should do, and it's far from lacking in clichés (some of the "people would rather take selfies than open their eyes" stuff is a little eye-rolling) but it's a fantastic take on a dystopian platformer that avoids the major pitfalls that such games often fall into. With responsive controls, enjoyable shooting and strong level design, Liberated is an atmospheric, absorbing treat and far more than the sum of its parts.

Liberated’s distinct, comic book style adds atmosphere to its simple, fun action. It’s just a shame that it’s so plagued by technical issues, particularly on Nintendo Switch.

The game works decently, in terms of mechanics. I can just think of plenty of other games you'd probably rather play more than this one. If you're in the mood for a relatively quick cyberpunk-tinged romp, though, Liberated isn't the worst you could do.

Liberated is a peculiar game. While it explores some interesting concepts around surveillance, people’s privacy and how societies react to terrorism, I’m not sure any of its ideas are helped by being a video game. If anything, it has an adverse effect, actively drawing away from the team’s artistic skills and world-building.

Liberated has a unique art style, and does a great job of blending the classic detective noir genre with the tantalizing cyberpunk medium. Unfortunately, the gameplay falls completely flat with a lack of depth and continuity with intriguing mechanics.

As much as stylized in presentation and as thought-provoking (story-wise) it wants to be, Liberated falls apart due to its clunky gameplay and uninspiring narrative. With superficial characters in a hollow view of real-world problems it is no surprise the game comes through as a nihilistic and cynical approach thematically. There is potential though. The comic-like presentation needs more robust gameplay and a bold narrative that does not try to please everyone.

I don't want toLiberated is a great indie game that has truly a deep plot. This plot isn't for everybody but for me it hit the right spot. I don't want to spoiler the plot, since it's rather a short game, but the ending shocked me (I thought it would go the other way). I love the ragdoll in this game, it made me laugh so many times (even with such a deep/dark plot). Visually this game is gorgeous it's clearly visible that the Atomic Wolf spent a lot of time with this indie. Dark visuals goes so well with this type of plot. Also, audio was minimalistic/simplistic, but that's what was so good about it. If the sound was flashy then it would be out of the place, so yup simplicity is good. In my opinion the only negative aspect was that nearly every loading was quite long :/ 9/10 Expand

The story is the main focus of this game and it’s excellent, the visuals on the comics are superb. The gameplay in the other hand is kinda mediocre, it’s mostly shoot for the head 2D game but there is some puzzles here and there which is cool and all. The game is not that long anyway it’s 3-4 hours which is kinda sad not gonna lie. Liberated is a unique game, with its take on story telling via comic book style 2D adventure game is done very well, I just wish they added just a bit more gameplay mechanics and more chapters to play. (Good 3/5) Give It A Try! Expand
