Grand Theft Auto V is often hailed as one of the best games of all time. Deftly blending a nuanced narrative with exhilarating gameplay, Rockstar managed to craft an open-world experience that few titles have been able to replicate.

There are a lot of reasons for GTA V's continued success, but one of the biggest is its robust (and ever-growing) multiplayer mode. Instead of exploring the sprawling city of Los Santos alone, you can head online and cause chaos with your closest friends. There are also deep competitive and cooperative modes, which see you and your crew pulling off incredible heists or taking aim at other players.

Before most players just into online play, however, they'll find time to work through GTA V's groundbreaking narrative. It follows three distinct characters (Trevor, Franklin, and Michael), each one with unique skills and offering their own bombastic storyline. Their lives eventually converge, and players will be faced with some difficult decisions that radically change the game's ending.

Regardless of what mode you're playing or what crime you're committing, you'll be treated to tense gameplay that sees you running, gunning, and racing across a meticulously crafted open world. But since the game is closing in on its 10th anniversary, there's a good chance you've already explored every inch of the bustling city. Thankfully, there are some great games on the market that can help fill the void left by Rockstar's highly reviewed title.

Here are 10 games like Grand Theft Auto V to play next, listed by Metascore.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is another highly reviewed work of art from Rockstar. The game follows outlaw Arthur Morgan as he and his crew attempt to survive a Wild West that's quickly become more civilized. When you're not working through its elaborate story, you can venture off on your own for a bit of hunting, crafting, fishing, or gambling. If that ever grows tiresome, you can jump online for some PvP and PvE action. It's essentially the western version of GTA, and just like its modern age counterpart, it's often cited as one of the best games ever made.

"Red Dead Redemption 2 tests the boundaries of interactive immersion. Few games look this good, play this well, and have this much to offer." — Easy Allies

Saints Row IV (PC)

Metascore: 86
Best for: Fans of off-the-wall adventures

When Saints Row debuted in 2006, it was a grounded alternative to Grand Theft Auto. That's no longer the case with Saints Row IV, which has you stepping into the shoes of the President of the United States to save the planet from an alien invasion. To up the ante, you'll also be given a suite of superpowers (such as telekinesis and super speed) to help thwart off the extra-terrestrial threat. It's a bit off-the-wall, but its fantastic sense of humor and engaging gameplay make it easy to sink hundreds of hours into the quirky world of Steelport.

Mix in dozens of side quests and plenty of collectibles, and it's easy to see why the game is one of the best games on PS5.

The core gameplay loop revolves around an arcade-inspired combat system, one that has you punching your way through enemies and learning new skills as you go. If Yakuza 0 sinks its hooks into you, there are plenty of others in the franchise to check out once the credits roll, too.
