There’s a zip and kick to it, with big melodies (huge in the case of ‘Blk Stallion’) and clever turns of pace.

    A very accomplished, multifaceted, genre-dodging outing. [8 Feb 2014, p.52]

With the track order shuffled entirely, it almost plays like a greatest hits album: Closer examination reveals cohesive new context for the collection, one that's more satisfying than anything we've heard from the trio before. [Mar 2014, p.88]

For the majority of its running time, Crosses is a slow, steady and comforting listen, very rarely raising above anything more than a laid back ebb and flow.

The record is overlong and the arrangements are a bit too familiar. Still, these brooding tracks are compelling as they merge into a coherent whole.

††† is a solid effort that stands on its own merit rather than simply cruising on the cultural cache of its members.

Despite a couple of assorted shortcomings, Crosses is a solid album. Moreno, Lopez and Doom draw from a vast palette of tones to create some legitimately interesting tunes.

While ††† may be on the same scale as Deftones, they’re not a replacement, and it stands to reason that Moreno can ascend to the heights of their previous work. But on †††, it’s like he never had wings.

Definitely a welcome addition to Chino Moreno's perfect discography. It's electric, ominous, and even funky at points - one of the top albums of 2014.
