Inspiration comes in a myriad of ways, and the talent must have the time to put these parts together and let them mature; it’s how we’ve ended up with an album as epic and impressive as this.

Every song is a wonder. It is unlikely Angels & Queens will inspire many imitators of its retro-future soul, its damaged doo-wop. It’s simply too good to be copied.

With sonics so extraordinarily ornate and a soul-stirring sentiment to match, three men and their producer have successfully taken the listening world to church, and left it there waiting for its next sermon.

Regret, longing, and grief fill the other songs, but Lusk's soaring, whole-hearted articulations of hope and reassurance prevent this transfixing album from being an unqualified downer.

The Gabriels are making thunderous, thoughtful music with commercial snap.

While Gabriels wear their influences on their sleeves, they are able to melt them down to form their own forward-thinking take that is as free and courageous as the genre has sounded in a long time.

While all but a handful of the songs from the 13 track Angels & Queens have already been drip-fed via a series of singles, EPs and last year's seven-track mini-album, Gabriels' desire to take their time with the making of their long-awaited debut album has certainly paid off. [Jun 2023, p.84]

Jacob Lusk has an impotent voice, all sweet, soft, clean, powerful, strong and incredible wide. We are seeing, both, a voice and an orchestra born with a strong foot in the ground. With inspirational lyrics, a composition that is not afraid to rise all the way to heaven, and the voice of a saint. Let's just hope they are true music prophets of the future, and they can bring joy and sensibility into a world that has gone mad with vanity. Praise Gabriels. Full Review »

Their single Love and Hate in a Different Time is one of the best singles of this century.
