Sep 28, 2011A strong debut from the producer who brought us Jay-Z's (excellent) The Blueprint record. His rhymes are sometimes funny and poignant. He's one of Hip-Hop's best right now.
-
Jun 22, 2015This is one of the best debut albums I've ever heard. Kanye makes great points against education and shows how the world is stacked up against bLACK PEOPLE.
-
Feb 11, 2019West has some interesting rhymes although his biggest recognition being about selective choice of beats and different textures which, not only sophisticated for Hip-hop standard's but music's.
-
Jul 28, 2019An innovative and soulful introduction to arguably one of the greatest artists to ever live. A breath of fresh air in hip hop, stepping away from the genre's stereotypes in both subject matter and sonic palette, The College Dropout changed the hip hop genre forever and is one of the best debut albums of all time.

Nov 29, 2016The album that started it all. The pitched-up soul samples are iconic to this day and brought about many imitators, but no-one can match what Kanye did here.
Best Songs: We Don't Care, All Falls Down, Jesus Walks, The New Workout Plan, Slow Jamz, Through The Wire, Two Words. -
Feb 4, 2014College Dropout is, and always will be, a classic. It's perhaps the most industry-changing hip-hop album of all time. The entire album flows effortlessly, with fun, intelligent, and uplifting beats. This is the debut of a legend. ~ 9.6/10
Best track: "Family Business"
Other notable tracks: "Jesus Walks", "Through The Wire", "Last Call", "Never Let Me Down" & "All Falls Down" -
Apr 28, 2015Arguably West's best album, but not arguably one of the best debut album of all time, College dropout is awesome in its uniqueness and delivers a sound that assured Kanye's future to be bright.

Feb 14, 2019Kanye West delivers a masterfully crafted debut album, presenting a new style of hip hop before unheard. He shows why his sampling skills are so revered, layering all tracks fantastically.

Aug 7, 2021This album is incredibly good. Many great songs, amazing production.
Best songs: Jesus Walks
Worst songs: - -
Feb 20, 2012It has quite a legacy in redefining modern hip-hop which was in desperate need of changing as its mainstream popularity began to dip. The College Dropout, whilst filled with an annoying quantity of skits is also reasonably consistent and inventive.

Dec 23, 2020the "old Kanye" at his highest. classic hip hop samples galore. Ye raps produces and damn near composes this masterpiece of art. Grammy winning lyrics and beats. my favorite track from this "Through The Wire" by the way this album was made during his time experiencing a life threatening car accident that could've cut his life and career short. a musical genius. a musical trademark of Hip Hop.
-
May 8, 2011this had some good songs i love kanye for his production not for his rapping ability. but this album was pretty good i liked it. but its not my personal favorite kanye album. but yes this album is very listenable.

Apr 9, 2013Lyrically great and production wise top 10. A great start into the game as Kanye started out great. One of the best hip-hop releases in the past 20 years.
-
Dec 28, 2019So fun and free! One of Kanye's best projects! It feels so raw and smart all the way through.
-
Mar 25, 2022great debut album and solid start to kanye's discography
best song: spaceship
worst song: last call -
May 2, 2022Absolutely fantastic, laid the groundwork for what was to come in Kanye West's career. A lot of classic tracks and great soulful beats by the man himself. An essential album to be sure.
-
May 30, 201677/100. Amazing soul feel to this whole album, some tracks bring it down, but there are plenty more that bring it way, way up. The best tracks are "Through the Wire", "All Falls Down", "Family Business", "Spaceship" and "Jesus Walks".
-
Dec 19, 2020The Album can be summed up in one sentence:
This is one of the best debut albums of all time, and maybe even Kanye’s best project to date as well as being his first. More than 15 years later, this is still a timeless classic. -

Mar 9, 2013IMO the best debut rap album of all time. the beats are insane, the album came out in a time where the world needed it the most, the lyrics are incredible and witty. this album is as good as mainstream/soul/r&b hip-hop gets
-
Jan 4, 2013A near flawless start to one of the greatest album trajectories of this generation, College Dropout is the record that established Kanye West as a force in the music industry. He may not be the greatest rapper, but he knows how to use his sampler and revamps classic soul songs to make enjoyable modern hits.

Jun 4, 2011Best transition from someone was a Producer who turned to a Rapper. Kanye made his mark with style and that whole world knew he was from the groundbreaking Through the Wire to Jesus Walks and Family Business. Kanye managed to put in his religious views into the his Album with positive feedback from Fans and Critics alike. He may not be the best lyricist but he is certainly a deep one.
-
Jan 27, 2017Great introduction to Kanye West! This album is a game changer. Amazing production, originality, has it's funny moments but the moving, mind blowing lyrics showcase the soulfulness of Kanye West at it's fullest. Straight up classic
-
May 15, 2016Além de inovador, ¨ The College Dropout ¨ , é um triunfo musical e artístico, onde a genialidade e o sarcasmo de Kanye West andam lado a lado.(A+)
-
May 17, 2021Probably my favorite debut album ever, it never gets old. Even after 17 years of The College Dropout it still sounds amazing. If you want to explain to someone that Kanye West is a musical genius, this is where you want to start.
-
Feb 16, 2022Esse é o meu álbum favorito do Ye , faixas memoráveis , qualidade impecável , basicamente o primeiro álbum que ele lançou conseguiu surgir essa obra-prima , minhas faixas favoritas são All Falls Down , Jesus Walks e Through The Wire.

-
Dec 25, 2021A great one, features an most classical hip hop style, which makes me happy with the final product. Definitely worth listening.
-
Jan 12, 2014His best album ever tbh. I didn't listen to the whole record yet but I've loved everything till now. My highlights are We don't care, All falls down, Jesus walks & School spirit. The College Dropout should have won that Grammy for Album of the Year.

Jul 14, 2017One of, if not the greatest debut albums in all of hip hop, Every track delivers and it is my third favourite Kanye Album. My favourite of his three first school themed albums.
-
Nov 28, 2017Brilliantly funny and so, so clever. Simply a joy to listen to. Completely changed the game, Kanye isn't a gangster, he didn't grow up in project housing, he's just a regular guy trying throw his 2 cents in on everyday topics like religion, education and drug abuse. A brilliant album by a brilliant artist. (And the production isn't half bad either)
-
Apr 16, 2021Amazing for a debut album, and even amazing for an album alone. Not a single skip, just one song I don't like as much as every other one (School Spirit because it gets really old really quick)
-
Oct 7, 2011absolutely a great album whoever says that this wasnt good should go commit suicide . this is kanyes most personal album and it showed. Pure genius one of the best rap albums ever
-
Oct 12, 2013The soul samples and the socially concious lyrics make this one of my favourite albums of all time. Definitely a certified classic. Maybe breathe in breathe out could of been, err, trashed?

Aug 28, 2023What an album. Not only did this album prove to literally everyone that Kanye was more than a producer, but also serves as some fun ear candy to listen to. An absolute pioneer and a mystical birth to a mystical artist.
-
Oct 2, 2022This album with Kanye coming from a producer to a rapper is great. This debut album is absolutely fantastic. The rapping, producing, samples and everything on this are just absolutely great. the songs on this are just so incredibly fantastic I can't talk about this album well but this has got to be Kanye's best, if you haven't listened I would highly suggest doing so
-

Nov 8, 2019Kanye West's College Dropout is one of the most successful, influential, and one of the best first albums that has ever been released. Every song is incredibly personal, and ranges from topics of God, family, society, violence, drugs, sex, and life itself. It's an incredibly long album, but incredibly ambitious.
-
Jul 23, 2018A great debut for Mr. West. It has great lyrics, production, and has a unique feel.

Nov 25, 2020Old Kanye is lit asf. The college dropout is the ultimate party album it's just so fun and catchy. That's really all i have to say but the standout tracks gotta be jesus walks, through the wire, get'em high. But get'em high is actually my favorite please don't kill me.
-
Dec 8, 2022Ye's debut album was a fresh paint of the rap music industry. It opened a gateway for more to come. The College dropout in itself is a fantastic debut album with killer guest rappers.
-
May 5, 2022One of the best hip-hop albums ever made. An incredible debut that countered the typical 'gansta-rap' found in the genre at the time. Kanye's witty lyrics and fantastic production brought variety to the scene and launched a rap icon.

Aug 8, 2011Released on February 10, 2004, on Roc-A-Fella Records

TonyCMar 4, 2004The second greatest rap album ever, surely the best debut, but the Blueprint is by far a better album. This now makes Kanye not just the greatest producer ever but he is the current best rapper, now Jay-Z has quit the game.

SethBFeb 11, 2004I LOVE THIS!!!!! I am SO tired of all this THUG CRAP in hip hop today. Kayne West bravely downplays that without losing street credibility. Finally, a major release who remembers what KRS would call, "Real Hip-Hop"!!
-
-
TonyFeb 13, 2004Definitely one of the better hip-hop albums to come out in a while. The beats are fantastic, the flows are smooth, and the message isn't about thug life.
-

JasonCFeb 16, 2004I cant help it, I have to give it a 10! This cd is awesome. It delivers great life into all the beats and Kanye doesn't bring the same gangsta flow as everyone else.

-
StaceyGFeb 20, 2004Not many CDs are u able to listen to all the way through....not many albums touch on what is trendy and what is contoversial .....there are very few hip-hop albums that can reach everyone... this one does. Kanye is a true lyricist and beatmaster and as said on the last track "ya'll niggas are stupid for not signing" Chi's finest.
-
-
StuTMar 23, 2004The best album of the year. possibly the best freshman album ever. Can't wait to hear his next one.

Feb 17, 2011Like every hip-hop album (even the great ones), Kanye West's The College Dropout is marred by too many guest artists, too many interludes, and just too many songs period. (I challenge every hip-hop artist working today to record just one album with 12 tracks or less-no skits, no guests, no filler.)
-
Feb 17, 2011Most producers who approach the mic do so at their peril, but on Dropout, West turns out to be a full-service hip-hop artiste.
-
Delivers both ass-shakers and contemplative cuts.
